Chinese Web Sensation Arrested for Running Illegal Casino

Internet star Guo Meimei has been jailed for five years for running an illegal casino out of her apartment in Beijing. Gambling has been mostly illegal in China except for Macau and Hong Kong. 

Chinese officials became suspicious of Guo after she started posting pictures of her in luxury cars and designer hand bags despite allegedly working for the nonprofit Chinese Red Cross. The internet star has a large fan base and many people accused the Chinese Red Cross for misuse of funds 

Guo addmitted to gambling but denied running a casino.
