We had to switch rooms because the second floor room we were in was disgusting and we moved to the 4th floor room instead. Pittsburgh is a basic city with awful driving and so much construction like everywhere else. The pool was nice and warm, the breakfast was mediocre but all right. It was food. The beds were comfy, normal hotel beds.

This hotel is located south of the Monangahela River, near Carson Street. There are quite a few cool bars and shops in and around the hotel. Market Square is walkable as well, it's less than a mile away. I'm rating only 3 stars because the front desk staff was a bit unfriendly and put off by having to check me in. The shuttle driver didn't say a single word to us from the second we boarded until we got off. Also, the breakfast area was not kept up well. The trash was overflowing out of every can and I had to use a fork as a spoon. Plus, the pancake machine was broken. If you've never had pancakes from an automatic pancake machine, you haven't lived. I had them the previous night at a different Holiday Inn Express. The cleaning staff was trying to clean our room at 10:00 am even though check out was in an hour. One saving grace, I had to retrieve something out of the room after I checked out. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. She is the reason why it's 3 stars instead of two.

This was not one of our most pleasant stays. We started out in room 302, someone tried to get into our room and cracked the door while out to dinner. At that point, our room key became hit and miss. At 8:00, we had to go ask for linen for sleeper sofa. We also asked for a pillow. At 10:30pm, a knock on the door provided us with a towel? The next morning, we were moved to 502. We were able to at least get into this room. We went downstairs to the pool about 9:00 pm and couldn't access it. We were told they forgot to unlock it. Second night, still no pillow for sleeper sofa. The afternoon desk clerk Paul, spends most of his shift out smoking. We could not reach him for a shuttle pickup. Shuttle was best feature of hotel. Spoke to the manager upon leaving and he gave points for a free night in my ihg account.

Good thing about this hotel is location. Its very convenient for walking E Carson. The front desk person was a nice older gentleman, suggested the Rex Theater but i never had time to go. The room we stayed in was a nice big room but the bathroom smelled like mildew really bad. I thought there was a wet towel in there but it looked clean so not sure what that was about. Pool area was really small but had a decent gym area. Being right by the clubs there were a lot of parties and drunk people. A big family was next door to me trying to sleep while a room was BLASTING music down the hall. I didnt mind but its not ideal for people trying to sleep and relax. Loved the big room though and will probably return!

Pretty standard holiday Inn Express. Great service, rooms were clean, good water pressure. Nothing to complain about but nothing stands out. Didnt check out the amenities or the area much so can't comment on that.

Outdated hotel. Location was good. But the rooms didn't meet my expectations for the price we paid. Half of the staff was friendly and the other half of the staff would roll their eyes when i would ask them a question. I would look somewhere else. Definitely not like other holiday inns ive stayed at. Breakfast was good and parking was available right next to the hotel for 18 dollars a night.

Just stayed for one night. Missed the part about $14 per night for parking. If I had seen it I would have stayed somewhere else. The room itself was ok. Cleanliness left a little to be desired. The staff at the desk were courteous. However when it came to their job either they were new or just not well trained. For the cost I would definitely have stayed somewhere else. Let alone the parking fee.
