I went for the Chinese Lantern Light Festival, the festival itself was very interesting. They serve your typical fair food and the grounds appeared well kept. Parking is quite a distance from the actual venue, but there is a little tram that runs periodically. Overall it was a good experience.
Great spot for shows, fairs, gun shows, camping, fishing and other odd things. Very nice home and garden events. Huge parking lots. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of vendors for sale items and information. The fair is held here every year. Alameda county fair right in Pleasanton, ca.
Holidays and Lighted Lanterns
Christmas and New Year celebrations in America are usually for families and friends getting together to enjoy feasting and gift giving. Decorations are often full of colors and lights. Families do not often go out at night but stepping out to look at bright colorful lanterns that are larger than life size can be worth while during the holidays. Chinese handicraft with childhood fantasies of animals, castles, creatures light the night and fascinate our imagination. Cool night air for walking around, taking photos, eating street food, shopping handmade jewelry and decorations, plus watching acrobats complete the family experience.
Parking was good (some shade even!) and the staff was friendly and courteous. We went for the AlCo Fair, and it was well laid out, and fairly easy to navigate, with the colored lines on the ground and signs throughout. Lots of things for kids to do too!
My first county fair experience did not disappoint! Parking and driving in and out of the fair was painless, and you can pay $20 for VIP parking which gets you right at one of the entrances -- worth it if you arrive when it's 95 degrees out! I enjoyed all of the different attractions, from the model train exhibit, stages of live music (there was even a hypnotist!), to demolition derby and motocross, agriculture and shopping arcade, and of course the rides! The $5 skyride includes unlimited rides, but if you're afraid of heights I'd skip it! I'd do the $35 ride pass if I were there all day -- lots of great rides for all ages! The food was not as crazy or outrageously good as I thought it'd be, but I had some good eats, such as the strawberry short cake, fried Twinkies, peach lemonade, corn dogs, and fresh grilled corn on the cob. Make sure to bring plenty of cash! I'll come back next year and stick around for the concert and fireworks at night!
This place is huge. There is so much to do and so much to see. It also seems to be about 10° hotter than it would be outside the fairgrounds so be prepared. They offer so many different vendors it was amazing. Make sure to have plenty of money with you because most of the plate of food are ranging in the $15-$20 range. They have plenty of beer and wine and for all the people who love liquor they have two different bar area one at the front which is OK. The one in the back by the horse track race in between the two palm trees is located inside and an amazing bar with amazing bartender. Apparently they were offering Tito vodka but had run out Tito‘s is my favorite vodka so anybody that carries that gets a five star. We had a wonderful time and definitely would go back without children that is if you have children with you it’s a whole different ballgame and my review is based on being kid free. also got to enjoy a concert which was a plus.
