Steve—
Thank you for your prompt response. If you are willing to compensate us with a free stay at the Showboat, I will give your establishment another chance and will consider revising my review.
Original Post (12/23):
The emptiness of the Showboat is unsettling. There are no slot machines, tables, or games of any kind on the floor, and all of the restaurants and shops are closed, which creates an eerie atmosphere. We left the casino and went to the Tropicana instead for dinner and dancing.
Our party booked two rooms but, even though we had requested adjoining rooms and the hotel was a ghost town, our request could not be satisfied. Instead we were placed directly next door to a family with young children, who, starting at 5 AM, started running through the halls, screaming, and continuously slamming doors. No logical reasoning can explain why we were placed on the same floor, let alone side-by-side. When we called down to the front desk for assistance, we were told that security would be right up to handle the situation, yet the ruckus continued for hours, until we finally lost faith in our ability to find uninterrupted sleep and left the Showboat.
On a positive note, the room was generally clean, but run-down. The small coffee pot and refrigerator served their purposes. Staff could have been friendlier, but they weren’t terrible.
Bottom line: I won’t stay here again, but if you just need a cheap bed to sleep in, this place will probably work for you.
The show boat needs to do better. I know AC has gone through rough times the past 20 years there is still no excuse for things not to be done. If you are not going to run the hotel properly then maybe sell it to one of the TWO hotels on either side of you. For $170 on Saturday night I expect certain things just like a $59 Saturday room. This place is smacked in the middle of the hard Rock and oceans. There is no reason why the showboat can't come up a bit. For starters try putting a fitted sheet on the mattress and not a regular one. The list of things that this place would have to do is to long to list here. Look, if you need a place to stay for a night or two guess you could. Would have been better off spending the extra money and stayed at The Hard Rock or Oceans.
Average place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and gets the job done. Little weird smelling though, probably from the years of smoking they tried to clean out. Also, they still don't have their casino license since the renovation, so it's eerily dead on the casino floor. However, it is directly connected to the Hard Rock Casino, so it really doesn't matter.
Best time ever. My daughter and I enjoyed every moment spend here. We had our own personal your guide/assistant Helga. She kept telling my daughter TAKE CARE OF MOMMA. You could feel her heart such a great woman.
The redone rooms are great love them. Everything was nice except for the fact since we were there with my nephew who's 3 and 1/2 when we would walk around to go out to the beach or something like that the security would come in tell us so we can't have him here because he is just reacting to the people gambling. He was perfectly silent basically almost at first. I wasn't gambling my mother was a gambling I just never felt so harassed about having a kid with us
Great price. Nice and clean rooms. Great pool/hot tub area. Casino floor is awesome with lots of slots (and you can order your drink right from the slot machine). The wild west is fun with games and bands toward the weekend. Plus access to other casinos as well, like Caesars.
