My family made this a Christmas eve tradition, growing up. We would go Christmas light looking, then hit the Iron Skillet at the Alamo. The food isn't anything to wrote home about and the buffet is mediocre at best, but the staff is always friendly.

Same as the rest. Foods not that great but if you buy a dinner you can fill up on the soup and salad bar then take your food out in a box for later. If you didnt do this, it would be too expensive (for me) to eat at.

I have been visiting this particular iron skillet for 6 years. Every time I've visited my service has been well beyond expected. I try to make it a point to let the manager know how pleased I am with the food and service. The group of employees changes here, but the level of friendliness and customer service is a reflection of the management style. Once again, kudos to the team at the iron skillet. Sincerely Chad V.

I was impressed with the knowledge of our waitress Ashley who informed me all steaks are hand cut in house. After trying many all over town DH declared the chicken fried steak the best in the area. For a quick bite in a hurry the buffet is fine but if you have the time to spend I recommend ordering off the regular menu. Ashley assures me you may order breakfast lunch or dinner 24 hours a day. The strawberry jalapeno lemonade was a big hit with myself, not spicey but had the floral notes of both fresh fruits. A little funky but for you adventurous types worth a try! A bit off the beaten path but when you are tired of the same old same old definitely worth the trip

Friendly service and big portions. Chicken fried steak was good. Too much butter in the baked potato but the salad bar was pleasing. The balsamic vinegar was way too strong!

Food was good but service was terrible. Waiter came back only once to ask me if I wanted more water. I said yes and 10 minutes later came back but by then I was finished with my meal and ready to leave. All Irn Skellets seem to be the same way. I usually have to get up to chase someone for a refill.

"Stop don't go In!" I came to the iron skillet to get some food and was sitting at the counter for 15 min and not a word was said to me except we will with you in a moment. Okay but I saw two other drivers come in and site down and get there food before I even got my water. I was pushed to the back burner as it would go. Ps if this is how to do business I won't stop at here agen.

Small buffet but dishes are usually tasty, burgers off the menu are good and the service is exceptional. Was really surprised at how good this place is, I gave it 4 stars but as far as truck stops go it should get 5.
