Saddle Bar

Passed the casino after a long hike and decided to go for it. The place was packed and very clean. I wanted to play Texas Hold 'Em but they only had 1 full table open. So I walked around a little and found a lonely little machine and decided to put some money in. Won $200 and had a good time. Wouldn't come to play if I didn't have money to waste, but the games are fun.

We like some slots and video poker at the bar but we came here for craps. They only have one table. It wasn't crowded so that's ok. It was a blast as my wife an l had a couple of great rolls where everyone won! We went back the next day and it was very enjoyable Then the night came and it was a whole new feel. As we approached the table it was packed. I could barely get a spot as some folks were taking up multiple spots around the table. A dealer is supposed to help, but did not! I walked away and came back a little later. I found a spot and proceeded to help out a man next to me. When i pointed to something on the table the man next to him throws his arm past him, hits my hand and says don't do that. Well he was just a player like me and had no right to do that! The game goes on and he does it again. I tell him you don't work here, back off me! The dealers did nothing! I picked up my chips and met my wife who was playing poker at the bar. You get a comp. Cocktail every half hour. Nice! As we are feeding the machine we are ready for a drink and the bartender is nowhere to be found! For the second time! I read a review that the slots don't pay out as much as they did in the past. ( Ain't that the truth!) They take their time. Even the servers are in no rush. We are good tippers but that didn't seem to matter. The best place to be was by the slots near the bathrooms. This is where the service was the best. People hanging around the slots getting their free drinks quickly. This seemed to be a good place to hang my hat but they just passed us by. Not a good experience. Good service one day and poor the next. Very inconsistent. We will be looking for property around here as it seems like a nice retirement community. But we're still a few years away.

Feels good, but despite their claims for payouts... Machines are tight to give bonuses.. Servers dress well in cocktail dresses and skirts giving it the Vegas small casino feel

Nice location away from all the hub bub. Friendly service at Joe's diner. Yummy but cooked to order. As a French fry snob, I give these high marks. Simple fresh cut potatoes. The blooming Jack cocktail hit the spot!

Saddle Bar

Separated from downtown Cripple Creek. Relaxing atmosphere. Still give out good prizes for Birthday. My sister-in-law won a free night at the hotel. They run a shuttle down to center of town. Less then a half mile walk to other casinos anyways.

Their video poker is 'rigged' -- I have seen the internal screens showing the 'house hold' and 'theoretical hold' -- the house hold on many games was between 15-12%, when real hold should be 2%. This is ILLEGAL and the owners should be in PRISON. I have seen with my OWN EYES the actual hold, when an employee opened up the screen and went through the different settings. I was not supposed to see this, by the way, but I did. The SLOTS offer a better payback then the VIDEO POKER!!! I'll never be back. They lost one of their best customers, too. Scamming pieces of trash. People lose thousands if not millions playing their video poker and it's pure cancer. I have alerted the Colorado Gaming Commission of the video poker discrepancy. I will add that while the theoretical hold is around 2 to 2.5% for most games, usually the hold will be a little higher due to players not playing perfect strategy -- so 4-5% at the MOST should be expected. However, the hold I saw on the screens for dozens of games ranged from 8 to 15% -- with only ONE game out of many paying a "+" ratio of 4% in the favor of the player (a game that likely had hit a few more Royals than normal). This insane hold on these machines indicates they are rigged or something is wrong. NEVER play here again. Slots offer a better payback! How INSANE is that?

This is typically my first stop when visiting Cripple Creek simply because it's easy to park and feel fairly clean. Bar service is excellent however drink service while gambling is slow and usually it's hard to find someone to place an order. I'll still return in the future.

A few of the hosts are great, they are; Bea, Kathy, and Dan. If you need to go to the host station for anything I would highly suggest using one of those three. I was noticing the slots not paying out as much, but then I heard around town that they are tightening them up meaning the slot machines are paying out a lot less than what they used to. I used to go and win at LEAST two jackpots a month there. You'll be lucky if you find a machine that will pay out like it used to. The bar maiden is super nice as well. Her name is Katherine. She is always curteous and always has a smile on her face while serving your drinks.

Saddle Bar

Fun place, easy to lose a lot of money. They seem to update new games, which is good, the flashing lights and entertainment from the machines make it less painful when you lose! Also ate at the restaurant in the back. Green Chile was good, but burger, the bun wasn't warmed or toasted, ruined the burger and made it cold...

The Wildwood is the largest casino in cripple creek. They have a diverse game selection. The dealers and servers are excellent and are very attentive to gamers needs. Shannon and Tom at the main bar are especially good.
