Person at the front desk was very friendly, he made check in quick and smooth.
The check in area is right in the casino so it is super smoky for any non-smokers.
Hotel is VERY dated, rooms were fairly clean but I didn’t want to take off my shoes, the carpet was pretty gross.
Bathroom was soooo tiny, you have to maneuver around the door.
You can hear everything next door, complete conversations so be aware.
Black bear diner breakfast was below par, hash browns were barely cooked and eggs were still raw.
The beds were decently comfortable and the place was clean. That's the minimum standard I look for in a hotel. Unfortunately that was the only good thing about this place.
From minor problems to major:
- the whole place is outdated. Take a step back 15 years to the early 2000s with lamp switches that hurt your fingers and are near impossible to find in the dark. Not important to me but the decor was ugly as hell too.
- the balcony does not lock. If you ever stay here take all belongings with you and don't leave any in your room just in case. The latch doesn't close and the bolt they have installed doesn't reach.
- Everything is loud. The floor creaks with every other step, the hinges of all the doors are beyond squeaky, and the sliding door sounds like a scream of a terrified person down a tunnel.
- If you are a light sleeper or can't handle noise do not stay here. You wont get much sleep and your next day will be ruined. The reason the above statement is bad even if you're alone is that the rooms have almost no sound insulation. Your neighbor gets up to go to the bathroom? You're going to hear it. Someone sneezes next door? You heard that too. Neighbor goes to the balcony for a early morning cigarette? Hope you weren't trying to sleep in. The only good thing is the sound of traffic is so consistent it sort of acts like a white noise.
*Edit*
The showers water pressure was amazing. I would drop this below a star if I could though. I had to clean the shower before I could use it. It was dirty and the previous guests used soap was still in the holder.

I travel to Carson City for business a couple of times per year and only stay at Wyndham Garden. The location is ideal, right near downtown Carson which has seen some very nice renovations. A few perks to staying here are vouchers upon check in for one complimentary well drink and your choice of free oatmeal, free biscuits and gravy, or 15% off breakfast at the Black Bear Diner located on the ground floor.
Hmm, max casino is really up and down honestly... Sometimes i will go in and gamble and get treated really good and experience great customer service!! And other times ill be gambling and not a single cocktail waitress will come by! There is no longer any table games located on site, there is a hotel on site and a pretty good rewards program!
This review is for the staff from last year. I Was having an issue with my bank and wasn't going to be able to get a room anywhere as most require cards nowadays however the manager came out and did everything they could to help us and make us feel welcomed .. Although we didn't end up staying i'm going to make this my go to destination for my future trips to CC . Thank you!
