Comfort food and homey atmosphere. The meals are what you would expect: chicken fried steak, white gravy, hot turkey sandwich, etc. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Pricing is very affordable. And they have sweet potato fries! I can't wait to come back.

I would recommend the Black Bear Diner as a super place for breakfast. Good prices and good food, the wait staff are well trained. May I say more. GIVE THEM A TRY

Great portions Great food Great service! All around great place. I am not giving it a 5 star however, there was a mix up on our bill and instead of just correcting the issue the manager on duty basically told the waitress to tell us too bad we have to pay for what's on the ticket. Our waitress was super sweet to us and was very apologetic.

Great place! Super close to the peppermill in Reno. Good prices for the area and the food was good.... Great selection on the menu and a lot of options for kids to eat. Service was great as well... Definitely recommended if your in Reno!

Great place to eat, my meal was fantastic. I had more food than I could eat. If your in the Reno area you must experience the Black Bear Dinner for a great meal.

After years of passing by Black Bear, I finally decided to go in. Thinking it was a local diner, I was surprised when I heard this was a regional chain restaurant. With that said I was satisfied with the experience I had. The ambiance was bear-themed and the decor was a bit old and stale. I thought it was a little weird to have a mini shop inside. As for the food - I thought it was good. But nothing more. I had the turkey sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. Honestly the small cup of soup tasted better and had more flavor than the sandwich. It didn't blow me away and I will say Denny's has a better offering. Prices are decent and so is the service. Will I be back again? Sure, only if I'm too lazy to drive somewhere else.

Dining out is all about timing. If you get there at the right time your experience will be memorable, or at the very least you'll get a delicious meal and good service. So I think we were just there at a bad time. My wife and I ate at a Black Bear Diner in Vegas last year and it was delicious and the service was fantastic. So we were a little disappointed in Reno at the black bear. Our meal was subpar and the service was lacking.

I’ve been told that this diner was a good place to get food, or at least the one in Sparks. So my girlfriend and I went to the one on S. Virginia. We drove past the place and it looked busy so I figured I would ask about the wait. The waitress said the wait was “not long.” So I asked to be put down for a table of two. I don’t know how long “not long” is but we weren’t seated until 30 minutes later. The sweet tea was just sugar water, the chicken wasn’t too good on the chicken and waffles, dust everywhere, and the service was slow. Like real slow... Like molasses in December slow. My girlfriend had to get up and ask for a to-go box. That’s my experience and I’m sure it’s different for everyone. Not that it matters but I’m not going to be eating here again.

Great prices for the amount of food you get. Good variety of food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is unique and interesting. Good for breakfast and lunch.

The food is good, little bit on the high side so def for date night or a once in a while event.The people are nice and quick to make everything right. Getting hungry just thinking thinking about it. Don't forget to get yummy pie on your way out!
