The Cafe at Viejas

The hotel is nice but they obviously had to tighten the machines and lowered their payouts, to pay for it. The buffet is nothing to brag about either, but the drinks, besides being pricey, are available at the bar. Sorry Viejas, you used to be fun but that was well over 15 years ago. Barona is a much nicer casino all around. Excellent buffet and other food selections and the payouts aren't as great as they used to be but are still the best in San Diego.

The Cafe at Viejas

The overall experience is great, you can shop instead of gamble and they have live music shows, so if it's not too hot, it's probably worth it if you want to get out of town for the day- also, I used it as a stopover when going to AZ - high security of course, and safe place 24/7 to pull off the freeway and chill. The outlet malls are worth it across the street, and it's actually a nice place to visit. The food choices are good and they have bars with decent nice staff, it's a bit blue collar in terms of the patrons, never see any high rollers/ card action but those days are behind me anyway.

The Cafe at Viejas

I spent about two hours charging my EV on one of 4 Level 2 charging stations in the parking structure. The resort and casino is clean, with clean restrooms, a couple of cafes for baked goods and Starbucks coffee. And the is a marvelous buffet, but be careful. Most of the extensive selection of food items are more tasty comfort food, rather than healthy choices. There are plenty of healthy items, too. There is a newly opened smoke free area of the casino, but the presence of cigarette smoke is ubiquitous although subtle for the most part. The staff is friendly and it's easy to find someone to help pretty much anywhere.

Very quiet during the middle of the week. Hotel (the adults only new hotel called the willows) is beautiful. Pool is nice. Rooms are large and nice. Restaurants are hit or miss. Found an excellent local Italian restaurant in town, though. There are drink specials that are not advertised- check the website then ask the bartenders. If you don't ask they are likely to bill you for regular price (happened to us). We were also charged full price during happy hour. Removing one star for ambiguous drink pricing policies at the bars. Otherwise and overall a very nice, stay.

The Cafe at Viejas

This is my go to casino because of my host Tyler. He is what keeps me coming back. The only negative is that they need more wait staff, sometimes it's hard to get a drink on the floor. Also the rooms are really nice in both hotels. The recent expansion has really improved the gaming experience and I can't wait until it's finished. Bartenders are always nice and the buffet is pretty good too. The outlet across the street has many stores, however I personally go during holiday weekends to get the better deals on killer brands. Bingo is fun to play here and they have separate smoking and non smoking rooms.

Hotel was clean and staff was so friendly. My grandma got lost and they brought her all the way to the room, opened the door and made sure she got in safely. We also brought our kids and they have a grass area with giant games like chess, connect four and other games. It was a great area so the kids could play and we hung out at the fire pits. The pool area was so clean and we rented a cabana and it had a pool just for the cabana guests. Overall we loved our stay.

Great outdoor mall with roller rink for kids. Also a good spot to sleep overnight if traveling by RV (park in lot 11) and regardless of what hotel personal say call security and let them know you'll be staying the night. Updated 6/3/18: Rink closes at 8:30pm even though schedule says 9pm. Ran by kids that don’t care for the perception or employer. Will skip this place quarterly going forward.

Casino is nice, bathrooms are clean, food is decent. The new Asian place not so good as I have been served raw rice several different times eating there. I would possibly give this casino a 4 or 5 star if it wasn’t for the poor customer service. Every time I go when I am spending hundreds at a slot machine I wait over 1 hr for any kind of drink or beverages, it ridiculous you figure a casino this big would have more servers, especially on the weekends, but they don’t. If I m spending 100s at the slot the least this casino can do is provide faster service, before you guys use to have servers with carts walking around, but it seems you guys got stingy and stop doing that, alll the other casinos serve there customers much faster and friendlier, the staff here always seems to expect a tip, but sorry 45 min to get a beer is a little to long, and by than I’ve lost almost all my money. The casino and environment is great, but seriously need to work on customer service for both machine and drinks, as every time I press service light it takes over 30min to get any kind of help.

The Cafe at Viejas

Amazing place to spend a day or weekend, hotel rooms nicely done and clean, housekeeping staff very kind and performing so good job, valet parking and desk clerk do, the view from the room, pool, shopping mall, everything very enjoyable, the buffet is amazing! Only thing we didn't like it was the fact that in order to get to the buffet from our tower, kids should walk through the casino and the only big problem is the smoke they are exposed to or, will be a nice idea to build some kind of hallway for families to cross the casino without being exposed to smoke or install smoke extractors (this way no one gets exposed to second hand and unwanted smoke)
