I don't even know where to start with Steak 'n Shake. Being a person who really likes burgers, I've seen it a couple of times and decided to try it after seeing how popular it was. I wasn't disappointed. The burgers are really good, and the cost for the burger that you're getting is unmatched. The fries could be better though. However, what I can't recommend enough about this place are the shakes. I'm not the kind of person who likes sweets but they're shakes are just out of this world.

I'm going to be honest I generally go to this place mostly for Nostalgia at this point. But that being said they are definitely great when you just want straight up a burger with all the fixings and not want to tear your wallet apart feeling like a bum. It's a very casual environment at this place, you're going to see all walks of people here; which for the most part. That's not to say that the service is bad it just might be a busy night the point you come in. It is one of those places like Denny's; only Steak and Shake has better food, that caters to the night people. And is one of the few places that is actually brightly-lit.

Not enough staff on to take food orders, milk shakes are always very behind not sure what their system is on making the milk shakes, almost pointless to order them. Staff very friendly.

Good food, but don't use the Drive thru unless you have all day...or all night. At 10:30 on a Sun. night, I waited about 8 minutes just to get up to the speaker, then another 10 minutes before they took my order. Total time from getting in line to receiving food: about 25 minutes. That's just flat out crazy.

Far from the best Steak n Shake I've had. Cold food and slow service. Update:. I went back..... Corporate needs to step in here!!! It took me 20 minutes to get a cup of chilli and the food came out 30 seconds later. Both were cold. Little gnats kept me entertained until my food arrived when it seemed they had been waiting as long as I had. I spoke to the manager who cashed me out (Trooper?). He wanted to blame the server!! What a manger...

Placed an order, was hand written down, should have realized then I'd have problems. My order was to go as there were 4 cars in the drive through and I thought this would be faster, apparently not. Waited 25 minutes inside to get my food, and they ended up missing one of the chili and fries I order. Tried to get out of the door without giving me my drink as well. Why do people come to this place? Absolutely awful. At least Mcdonalds doesn't 'forget' to give you the food you paid for. I didn't even get a receipt. Never again.

If I could give zero stars I would. Where do I start...first of all, I went through the drive thru. I sat there for almost 5 minutes waiting for someone to come on over the intercom. Then all of a sudden, someone came out the back door and told me to drive up to the window because the intercom was broken. It probably would be a good idea to put a sign up stating to drive up/broken or something. So I get to the drive up. Sat there waiting with my car running for someone to come to the window. After 3 minutes, this guy comes up to the window to take my order looking like he just came out of a garbage bin because his shirt was FILTHY!!! He took my order for the Garden Bowl Salad. I paid and waited for them to make it. When I tell you I waited for 15 minutes for a SALAD that would be an understatement. He finally brought my salad to me. I was about to drive off, but something told me to look at it. When I saw the salad it was mediocre at best. Believe you me, the Steak & Shake I normally go to in Hoffman Estates is WAY BETTER! So I backed up to the window and honked my horn. Someone finally came to the window and I told him that I didn't have my avocado that should have been with my salad. Got it finally and left. WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!!!
