The Royal Flush Bar

Just about the only kids friendly casino resort in Colorado, but just barely. Blackjack tables have higher denominations to keep cheaper players out. Rules are not the most liberal, but acceptable for strategy playing. Staff are professional and restaurants have good service. Rooms are nice, and so is the exercise room. It's a great place for gaming or just to relax. UPDATE: no longer allow children into the buffet. Could of made an alternative entrance, but it appears they are discouraging family clienteles.

The Royal Flush Bar

My family of six (kids and adults) would come here several times a year. Main reason you ask? The all you can eat crab legs! The prime rib was great as well. Over the past couple of years, we've noticed a decline in the quality of food but again, the crab legs kept us coming back. Our 10 year old (who was 4 at the time) learned how to crack open crab legs here. Many great memories. We went there tonight, not thinking to look at the website (because after coming so often, why would I). We were turned away because of our kids. All patrons now must be 21 and over. Why? They had no explanation. Just a rude man who was on a power trip. Ameristar has lost our business for good.

The Royal Flush Bar

Vegas style casino in the mountains. Tables are usually set at $10 minimums or higher so you need some cash to actually play here. Maximum bet is capped at $100 so it is hard to make a come back if you lose early. Buffet has gone way down hill over the years. I do not recommend eating here due to the service and quality of food that is provided.

The Royal Flush Bar

It is a fancy hotel, and the employees are nice and the room is big with a comfortable bed. But the garden bath looks to have not been scrubbed for a while as there is grime all over it. Also, I understand that room service is expensive, but they tack on a service fee on top of the room service prices, plus add the tip in without telling you either of the fees were being added. I wish they hadn't because I was going to tip the guy more than the 18% that they added on. The buffet is as much as room service, but its quality is below par too. I was expecting a luxury experience, but really think I just paid for a giant dirty tub. Disappointing.

The Royal Flush Bar

Ameristar was a wonderful place to stay the night. The gambling was great as was the food and drinks. The only thing that could have made it better was if the bar had been open at the pool. I'll definitely be back for more relaxation and fun!

We enjoyed our stay at the Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk, Co. When we first arrived we pulled in the Valet area. Needed a cart for our luggage. Valet called for Bell office, after waiting a few minutes, we finally gave up and carried our own luggage in. You have a long walk to the Hotel lobby. There at the Hotel lobby, staff was very friendly. Our room was awesome with a beautiful view. The one thing that I did find was the coffee pot was not cleaned. Still had the used coffee filter in it, and the pot was dirty. The Buffet was just unbelievable, staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was just as awesome. They could loosen the machine's. Put a hundred in a penny machine and expect to get a bonus round at least once is not too much to ask, I don't think. They would of received 5 stars if it wasn't for the coffee pot, and the bell hop wait when we first arrived. (And the tight machines)

The Royal Flush Bar

Fun place to hang out. Clean, good atmosphere. Usually plenty of things to play even on busier nights. Drink service isn't bad but sometimes you'll wait a while before getting served.

The Royal Flush Bar

Stayed here one night and lost $200. Had a good time anyway. The room was roomy and comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a decent smiling patio next to the Starbucks since you can't smoke inside. I played craps and the dealers were fun and nice. It's not Vegas but it will do in a pinch.

I only stay at the Ameristar up in Black Hawk. I gamble plenty, and I get a free room and buffets every month. That being said, the standard rooms are great, though if you are picky, the rooms could use some upkeep and could be cleaned better. I am still more than satisfied since the rooms are cheap and or free depending on your gambling. The room service is always quick and tasty. The prices are reasonable. The “fast food” outlet on the casino floor is tasty and convenient. The fireside restaurant is also a great option and priced OK. I have never been to The Timberline Grill, it seems quite expensive. As for the gambling, I don’t play slots much as they are very tight. The video poker is quite loose though. The table games are always fun with mostly hospitable dealers. Tip decently and you will be treated very well, though it’s obviously not required. All in all I love the Ameristar Black Hawk and will only stay and gamble here.
