Nelson's Deli

This was a nice place to stay in the area. The room was very clean and the staff was really friendly. The steakhouse inside was good. We played a little in the casino, which was fine, but it was very, very smoky. The restaurant was also very smoky, which soured our experience a little. If I had known the restaurant wasn't non-smoking, we would have gone somewhere else. For a nice weekend away, the smokiness of the casino and restaurant were a bit of a bummer. If you don't plan on gambling or eating there, the rooms were good enough to stay.

I was there for a community seminar and continuing education hours. It was a very nice room, big and beautiful, classy and not over decorated like the casino. There was also a catered lunch that was amazing. The facility was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was too. Polite staff as well.

One of the original boat casinos in northwest Indiana, and our favorite. The casino is all on one floor, making moving about quite easy. Several restaurant choices for all tastes. We also have spent several enjoyable nights in their attached hotel. The hotel offers a spa, exercise rooms, pools and an event center to name just a few of their amenities. For those who wish to spend a few days, there is an outlet mall, several local wineries, micro-breweries, antiques and beautiful Lake Michigan with its surrounding beaches and dunes. All within an easy short drive. We live less than ten miles from several other casinos, but we don't mind traveling to this one.

Had a great experience, the hotel room was beautiful and comfortable. My kids enjoyed the pool and I enjoyed the hot tub. Only issue I had was getting lunch at the deli there and my food was overly salty. I informed the cashier and asked if I could get something else because and she had an attitude. The whole atmosphere was beautiful.

Very nice hotel rooms, spacious and luxurious. Hotel clean and updated often. Awesome buffet, numerous types of food to choose from. Good selection of slot machines. Good separate poker room with live tables. Also has many live and electronic table games. Smoking and nonsmoking areas available. Staff friendly. Valet parking available. Outlet mall nearby with good deals. The casino and light fixtures in casino could use a good deep cleaning.

Beautiful casino and the room was nice. When we arrived I was rushed through the check in line and not quite sure where my room was. I was directed by a worker. When we got in the room the garbage can was still full from the night before. When housekeeping came to empty it it seemed as though she was annoyed with us because she had to empty it. There could have been anything in it. She looked at me and said thank you, how about I'm sorry would have been better. That was the only problem. A few social skills and this place would have been 5 stars for me.

I am an emerald. They are pretty good to me. Which is very nice because I have a new man in my life and he's copper at the 4 winds. So we have both casinos covered.. but blue chip is more generous, more cooperative and more personable as far as host interaction. I love a lot of blue chip employees as well.

The only reason this is getting two stars is because the staff that took care of the wedding did a good job. My fiance and I were staying one night at the hotel for a wedding and had more trouble with the hotel portion of the casino than was reasonable. After being told check-in time was 4 pm, we arrive at the hotel at 4 pm after a 5 hour drive from another state, only to be told to come back in 40 minutes because the room still wasn't ready. Unfortunately for us, the wedding we were there for was set to start at 515, and it took us an hour to get through the check-in line the first time through. We ended up having to call another family member to let us get ready in their hotel room before the wedding and then got our keys at 5 from the check in desk, just a few minutes before we had to be at the wedding. We ended up attending the wedding and didn't get to see our room until after it was over. The room itself was pretty bare as far as a hotel room goes: no thick comforter and no fitted sheets, just a regular sheet tucked over the mattress, and the washcloth in our bathroom had what looked like splotches of dried foundation on it. Upon check-out I went to drop off keys, assuming that was what we were supposed to do since there is a nice big box there that says "key drop-off." Instead I was told "you can check out this way but next time you need to call 0 on your room phone to do it, the way your doing it now isn't convenient for the staff or housekeeping." I was irritated at that point because we were not told to do this either time we talked to the staff during the check-in process. If all this wasn't bad enough, you are required to charge a $100 deposit upon check-in, which isn't the bad part since that is fairly common in many hotels. Our room was booked with a party and we had a total of two rooms, one for my family and one for my fiance and I. When my family checked in they told the staff to charge their room to credit card A, and that when my fiance and I arrived to charge that room to credit card B. When my fiance and I arrived they asked me if card A was my card and if that was the correct one to charge. I told her no and gave her card B to charge. After arriving home I get a call from my family, they had been charged for both rooms ($200) and upon checking my account I had also been charged $100, which means a deposit was paid for twice. When they called to speak to someone about it, they were told by a supervisor that there was nothing they could do. Naturally they asked to speak to the manager, at which point they were told there is no manager working there today, and that they (my family) should have just showed up a day early instead of staying just the one night (why would staying a day longer than we needed suddenly mean you could fix double charging a room deposit?). It was an extremely rude and inconsiderate comment to make. What casino hotel doesn't have their manager working on memorial day weekend when they are expecting a high turnover of rooms, or at least have them available to help handle something like this? I will never recommend this casino to anyone and we will never be coming back.

I love this place. I am not a big fan of gambling. However, this place has so much more to do. They have a large pool with two hot tubs to go and enjoy the water. They keep the pool fairly warm so I never get uncomfortable there. The hotel rooms are great and they respect your privacy. Of course the casino it self is a blast. Playing slot machines are always fun with a friend. As long as you are watching your budget! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a casino!

I wanted to go somewhere for my 21st birthday, so I decided to stop by the casino with some friends while on our trip to the lake. Had an amazing experience, our hotel room was very clean, had an amazing view and super comfortable. We ended up booking a room with two queen beds it was very roomy for 4 people. The bar outside the casino was great and the staff was very friendly, and we found some items to remember our trip at the gift shop, some of the items were clearly overpriced but what can you expect. Overall we had an amazing experience, will definitely visit again.
