We love this casino. We have been going since it was one room with just a couple of rows of slots. Very friendly service but machines can be pretty tight.
I've been here a couple of times to gamble, and it's mostly what you would expect from a small casino in northern Michigan. One craps table, a couple blackjack tables, a handful of other table games, and then a bunch of slots and video poker. The people working here are awesome; friendly and very capable dealers, and the bar staff is nice too. I haven't tried anything from the snack bar.
I visited on a Saturday night over Memorial Day weekend, expecting it to be at least a LITTLE busy, but it was a very thin crowd. Only one half of the single craps table was open, and I think two other tables were open. If it's this quiet on a holiday weekend, I really can't imagine what a weekday would be like. Still, the dealers made it an enjoyable way to lose $200, so I can't complain too much!
Small but nice. Lots of slots and a few tables. A small cafe and a bingo hall. No bingo on Saturdays. Hotel is reasonably priced but people at desk not overly helpful or friendly.
Spacious casino offering typical gaming opportunities. Frequently provides special events including both gaming events and concerts. Recent music events have been mostly country oriented. Past events were more popular acts from the 60s and 70s era. Convenient location right on M22 between Suttons Bay and Omena.
We have been to all the casinos in Michigan and we 10 to find that we like the smaller ones better Seem to be more friendly last hustle and bustle obviously not as many games to choose from what if you know what you like and they have a good place to have a little fun
Great staff at the casino and Lodge. We always enjoy the great service.
The dealers are total pro's! What a great team!
The only thing that would make a HUGE difference is ordering more variety of spirits. The selection at the bar is so small and seems that there isn't a great focus on keeping product in stock. The bartenders are great, and do a a great job, but the food and bev manager should order more variety.
My husband I just spend the weekend at Leelanau Sands, stayed at the Lodge next door. Had a super fun time! Friendly and awesome staff- a few that stood out: Dawn at the bar and Deanna, Susan, Marci are great dealers and made the nights very fun. Shuttle driver was so nice and accommodating. Had such a nice time and look forward to returning.
Only recommendation is for the food and beverage manager- your bar had no stock of anything we normally drink (Jameson and traditional Flavored Vodka, so nothing unusual) when we arrived on Friday. Still not restocked on Saturday. Seemed like there weren't a lot of choices for drinks. Also would have been awesome to see more local spirits, wine and beer available.
Hotel was very clean and nice. There's not a lot to do other than head to the casino, which is just down the steps from the hotel. Its a smaller casino but everyone was really friendly, and would definitely return! Only one place to eat and grab a drink but it was well priced.
I work in customer service and if I would give less than a star if I could. I have never had such a horrible experience trying to get a hold of someone to help me cancel my room reservation. Over a month ago I sent an email attempting to cancel my reservation, two weeks later I called room reservations asking about the status and was told I needed to talk to a manager. The phone number they gave me was for a sister hotel - not Leelanau. I did try both phone numbers on Leelanau's website to no avail. I tried to email again this time attaching my original email with the date and time stamp. Now it's just past the weekend of the reservation and they have charged the full amount of the room plus an extra $20. My attempts to call and email have not ended - I have decided to take this up as fraud with my bank and MasterCard. It's no problem booking a room but good luck if you need to cancel- no one will call nor email you back.
I used to stay at this hotel all the time, it was small with nothing much to do but it was cheap and close to the casino so I enjoyed it. When I called to check rates they raised them 70%. I was shocked and asked if they built a new hotel, nope. Looks like they refurbished the rooms, but there's nothing there that would be worth that rate, guess I'll find a new place to go, too bad it was fun
$140 for a room with a shoebox for a bathroom. No pool....no continental breakfast. No exercise room.
But you do get a view of the bay.....which is across the road and a few hundred yards away. Very dissapointed.
