Really good food that's a little different from the norm. I've really liked everything that I've had here. It's a cool atmosphere, my only issue is that it's not clean. The restrooms smell and the floors are sticky with built up grease. Hire a cleaning crew, because we do notice.

Love the look of this building. Really great lighting and a nice atmosphere. Patio could be a little bigger though. Reviewing isn’t really my thing but Brett was so nice to me and my friends and would do anything to make us happy. Will always be our spot!

Such a perfect night on the patio. Lots of fun to be had. Just ask for Brett and he will make sure your experience can be the best it can be. I”d give them sixty stars on one hand if it was possible!

Martinis were fantastic! Wasn’t too hungry for my food so decided to cancel but the manager Brett was super nice and said it was no biggie because it wasn’t started yet. Caught it just in time! Nice to see some respect and professionalism in the Central West End

The energy was amazing there. Music is usually good. Sometimes the dj does kinda sucks but other than that i love the jello shots ans the employees are nice

Lots of room here; great place to meet friends for a drink, especially if you want to watch a game. Interesting cocktail selection and solid appetizers on the menu. It's a bit overpriced and the service is decidedly mediocre...and for some reason, the floors are always really slippery. (?!?)

Had to wait 2 hours for my food BUT! Spencer at the bar was AMAZING. He kept my party happy and was super nice. If it weren’t for him I would have left but I’ll be back again Because of him. Fix your kitchen staff and give Spencer a raise!!! Spencer is the reason i gave 4 stars and not 1.

Great night life for food or drinks. Super bar area, great people watching out the front glass. Love the rich interior. (This location significantly better than Chesterfield.)

I usually don’t post experiences at restaurants, but this one I just had too. First off, Bar Louie’s atmosphere and size of their restaurant is incredible. It’s always packed on the weekends with fantastic music but tonight we stopped in for a quiet dinner. There was an incident with a man who had to be asked to leave. The man was clearly not considerable and didn’t seem right. A gentlemen in a suit, who’s name we soon to be found out was Brett, their Front of House manager, informed the man that he was going to have to leave. The man seemed to be escalating but this manager remained with a calm, stern, and relaxing tone. The man finally left while a worker from the back helped ensure that he did not cause anyone else problems and left the premises. He also escorted a couple through another exit as they did not feel safe going outside where the man was at. This had to be the most class act we have seen in a restaurant in quite awhile. We contacted corporate because we truly hope that they recognize a leader like this. We can’t wait to meet him the next time we have dinner and give him the thanks that he deserves. As customers, it’s always great to feel safe in a public place, especially in the central west end late at night. With Brett there, we have every reason possible to feel that way. As usual, the drinks were fantastic and the food incredible as always. After reading some of these other reviews, it seems as if this location gets a little bit too much unfair criticism based on where their size and steady flow of business. We will return soon and visit our now favorite location!

Service was awesome!! Food was delicious!! The atmosphere was perfect for any occasion (we were there for my mom's 60th birthday). And I even saw someone bringing in balloons and a cake for their own party (so apparently they allow that. Sweet!!) Really great place for an after-work drink or just to meet up with friends and hang out.

You'll want to actually read this one. If you want to know of quality of service and food... Ill try not to bash this place too hard, but I had horrible service. We got in and ordered our drinks except every time we went to order something our waitress sprinted away without anyone else being able to get a word in. From there it took about 5 minutes for the rest of the party to show up and about another 15 for us to even get orders in. The waitress was running away from the table so fast we had to yell back to her to get her back to put in appetizers. We were about to finally get orders in after 20 minutes overall. When we went to order there were about 5 things that they were out of including spinach dip, mac and cheese, and promo pasta, on a Sunday night. 1 of the 3 apps showed up about 20 minutes after we ordered and the other 2 were about 5-10 minutes behind that, as well as some entrees that started coming to the table just after that. Out of our party everyone received their food after about 40 minutes as I sat and waited, and waited, and waited. It was just over 1 hour between when I ordered my sandwich, to when it was placed in front of me, everyone else in the party was completely done with their meals as i'm just starting to eat. I was quite infuriated, but was not going to be rude. I started eating and was hoping that the amount of time I was made to wait was going to mean my sandwich was going to be good. On the contrary it was horrendous and probably one of the worst meals I've had. Our waitress said that the meal was on the house before I got it since it took so long, but I couldn't eat more than a few bites and i'm usually one to clean a plate in about 5 minutes. The tots were good though. I'm not in a place to know whats going on in the building so I try to give the benefit of the doubt to all parties associated, maybe the waitress was new, or was swamped, or a bunch of people got fired or had quit, or it could have just been inexperience. I could let it go if the place was even remotely busy, but it was a Sunday night and the place was practically empty. There were a few people watching football and i can honestly say there were about 1/6th the capacity of the restaurant seated. On top of that and the waitress dashing away in between orders/needs she didn't seem very happy or even nice with assisting or drink refills, almost seemed to be bothered. Also the beer I got was absolutely terrible and tasted like uncleaned tap lines with a hint of metallic tastes. I just stomached it and drank it instead of getting something different with the service I was getting. I didn't get a chance to tell her no thanks on a refill because she never asked. In a nutshell this is probably the worst place, considering how they are advertised in the local area. Not sure if I just so happened to be unlucky with that day but I would never recommend this place, but i can bet I wasn't unlucky because I went to the cookie shop around the corner and told my same story and was told by the really nice lady working that there had been 3 other couples that had come in and said roughly the same thing about Bar Louie. Food was not good, beer was terrible, service was an atrocity. You would be better off going to a fast food restaurant because at least they are held to mild standards.

I struggled to give it one-star, but only did so because we got seated. However, we helped set up the tables. I'm going to be concise with the review, which will say enough for this atrocious experience. We went there for my daughter's birthday celebration with a party of almost 20. We arrived around 6 p.m. Well believe it or not, we didn't get water for around 30 minutes; however, everyone didn't get water. My brother ordered a drink (with gin) and they brought him a drink with whiskey. The waiter then began telling my brother that it "was" gin (guess the waiter didn't realize that gin in clear in color and whiskey is dark). Without going through everything, we didn't all of our meals orders until approximately 8:35 p.m., 2 1/2 hours after arriving and being seated. On top of it, one of our guests never received her food; it was accidentally overlooked. The manager did finally come out and apologize for the horrendous service. He offered us coupons (which required returning within the same week and with a purchase.) Needless to say we would never go back there or refer our worst enemy there.

While visiting St. Louis my family and I stopped here for late lunch before heading back to Chicago. First, would like to say we stopped visiting the Bar Louie in Chicago; just nothing to be impressed about. Sadly, I see nothing has changed. At 2pm the place was not busy, but our order took a bit long. I ordered the Verde Pork Tacos, my tortillas were cold. I asked my waitress to bring me warm tortillas; she took the cold ones I had and reheated them herself; the problem is when tortillas get reheated they get hard! I wanted to ask for new, fresh tortillas, but felt she would do this herself with her dirty hands, so I did not say anything; felt it was worthless. I also asked for more green salsa and she brought me green water, yes green salsa water. I felt it was worthless saying anything, again. The rice pilaf in my order was fishy. I believe it had small chunks of shrimp in there. Why would shrimp and pork be served in the same plate? Why does Bar Louie do this? We also ordered chicken wings which were overly cooked, dry and the sauce was lacking. The cheese sauce in the loaded tater tots had a metallic taste to it. Finally, our waitress had long artificial nails, which as we all know, harbor bacteria. I'm certain she doesn't wash her hands. Her long, fake blonde hair should be pulled back to prevent hair from falling in food. The last straw has been reached with this restaurant chain. It reminds me of TGIF restaurants which are slowly closing down in the Chicago area. I recommend you do not waste your time or money at Bar Louie.

Received a gift card and thought we'd try it. Went to the CWE location. Nice, clean restaurant and the food was good. 2 problems though. 1) Food we ordered was skimpy for the price. 2) Our waitress (I think Kira was her name) was terrible. The restaurant had 10-15 people and at least 4 waitresses and she took FOREVER with every request. Not to mention several times she stood and talked to a couple at another table. It was extremely frustrating. I would probably go back but definitely to a different location.
