Olive bread and fresh noodles... All I need to eat in life. I got to know the owner a bit when I lived around the corner from this place and he's always gifting me new things to try for free. Love the food, staff, and owners.
Almond macaroons. Need I say more? In addition to their subtly flavored pastas, including ravioli as well as fettuccini, Phoenix also makes sweets. If you do not wish to find them at the North Berkeley Farmer's Market, just stop by and see them where they make the goods, at the Strawberry Creek Park on Addison Street.
I pride myself in baking almost all of my own bread, and thanks to the Tartine bread book, most of the time the bread from our home oven competes with the best bread at the market. However, Phoenix has some secret that makes their olive bread tastier than anything I've baked or eaten elsewhere. It's simply the best. One day I'll successfully reverse-engineer it, and perhaps my great baking dream will be realized, but until then I am woefully addicted to their farmer's market stand.
WARNING! The device the food are the best BUT it is NOT a redressing
