Wait staff was amazing. The steak was way over done for medium rare. I will have to try it again some other time to see if was an off night. 5 stars for our waitress.
I thought we would give this place a second try, but disappointed again. Cocktail was good, but food was marginal at best. I ordered the cheese tray and they globed something on the plate on top of a small slice of brie. I was so disgusted by how wrong the texture was that I didn't eat. The entire plate remained untouched other than my brie investigation and, although I didn't ask, the waitress (who was otherwise average) didn't offer to comp the cost. The table next to us ordered the cheese plate after us and got a different cheese (not "brie"), which confirmed my suspicion of getting a combination of two leftover cheeses passed off as one.
This restaurant is a bit hard to find, on the 2nd floor of an Old Mill District building. There food was excellent. We had the salmon chowder, scallop appetizer and their ahi entree. Wine, beer and drinks are available. The portions are not large, so you can order more than you might otherwise. The food was very tasty.
I was doing some last minute shopping at Old Mill. I stopped into Level 2 for a drink & late lunch or early dinner. Ben the bartender was great! I had a 1/2 strawberry mixed greens salad adding steak...possibly the best I've ever had! My compliments to the chef.
Also a wonderful, comfortable vibe.
Food 5 stars, service 3. I was so looking forward to eating here. My husband was back from a very tiring work travel and I suggested this place. The food was excellent but the bartender/waiter was snappy and moody. There were only 2 other ladies in the restaurant it was pretty empty. The food took a while to come out but that didn't bother us. When he brought our dishes I asked nicely if the salad was coming. I wanted to make sure it was ordered since he did not mention more was coming. He turned with a pissy look and not so friendly grin and said, "it's coming ." He held up his hands, showing me he only has two hands. I get it but he didn't need to be rude. We did not let his bad energy get to us. He became friendlier when it was time to tip. We'll be back for the food, we don't drink but I hope we get a better service. Love the friendly people in Bend but there are few not so friendly people out there. I will update next time we go.
This little place has some of the best food I've had here in the Old Mill. The little hot dogs are surprisingly delicious and the drinks are awesome too. They need a shade to help keep the afternoon sun from blinding the customers. In those bright afternoons, we usually sit inside in one of the cozy booths and play cards or backgammon and enjoy the food and drinks they have on their terrific menu
