We came in one a Thursday afternoon, very little people inside. We asked to sit outside so we can grab drinks and appetizers and the front door person said they don’t do that, it’s “a restaurant for meals only.” The front door girl also has a bit of an attitude. There was only 2 table occupied inside. All tables outside were empty. I’d understand if there was a meal rush coming or something but with a vacant restaurant I think it’s in your interest so service any paying customer. We were eventually seated and our actual waitress didn’t care at all and ended up having a good time. Good food. Good atmosphere. Really poor first impression.

Coming from Vancouver Canada, and doing a stop here with my firefighter husband this place was such a rad treat. The staff were phenomenal, knowledgeable and friendly. Food was top notch, we were so impressed with this place. Great patio, relaxed vibe, would definitely love to go again.. The complimentary cookies for my daughter and I were the icing on the cake. :)

The food is absolutely delicious. The service is amazing. There was only one server at the time and she kept that place flowing flawlessly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The owner brought our food to our table and was incredibly friendly. Everything about this place improved our time in Philadelphia. This is an excellent place for dinner and drinks.

Wow...one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. First of all, you have to try the buffalo medallions before you die because they are amazing. We were seated quickly and ever employee was nice. The owner brought our food out to us and was very nice. The staff is knowledgeable and the waitress was on point. Perfect experience.

Jack’s Firehouse has large doors in the front which are left open in nice weather. I had a party of 8 there when a cold front moved it dropping the temperature and began raining. When I asked for the doors to be closed, I was told it would require others to move as well and it would be over soon. “Just move the table in a little”. Finally enough of us complained and the doors were closed. As for the food it was a mixed bag. My wife enjoyed her crab cakes. I had bison medallions which were tough even when ordered as suggested, “medium rare”. One in my party had Filet which was good while the child’s chicken nuggets were extremely crisp. It is a very noisy environment so be prepared for that if you choose to go. The food server was excellent. The restrooms weren’t that clean.

Overall decor and ambiance was good. We sat at the bar with hope to experience faster food service than a regular table. We were wrong. The food took very long. We ordered full entrees however others at the bar who ordered simpler dishes waited far too long for soup and salad. Despite the wait, my roasted chicken was very good and the bacon Mac and cheese yummy. I didn't order it with mushrooms but got it with mushrooms. This was the only downfall of my dish. Ribs ordered we're chewy.

The staff are very nice. Smiles all the time and nothing is a bother. Used a gift certificate for a chefs tasting. Catch is you don’t know what’s coming but they do ask you of your food allergies etc. can be heavy on the salt in sauces. The shrimp and fish were good. Nice ambiance. Converted firehouse so has lots of character and charm. Plenty of outside seating during the summer time. Parking is tough.

Who says you can’t go back and find a good restaurant has remained so after a number of years and a new owner? Our daughter and her husband were visiting and there was a memory of Sunday brunch at Jack’s: The beginning of the meal with delicious breads and the tasty cherry preserves as well as the awesome cookies to end the meal. My daughter has a great memory and Jack’s nailed it – just as remembered. Plus there were the plentiful portions all well-prepared and delicious. The Salmon Cake was perfect. The Southern Omelet with sausage, peppers, and cheddar cheese was great. The Breakfast Quesadilla was delicious and customized just as requested. The Smoked BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich was good, but perhaps a bit too much BBQ sauce to my liking. The Brisket itself certainly was good. Of course brunch requires Bloody Marys and/or Mimosas. Both were at our table and both were great – in particular that spicy “Big Firehouse Bloody Mary.” So if you are visiting Eastern State Penn, the Art Museum, or the Barnes – or just looking for a good restaurant – we would strongly recommend you check out Jacks in Fairmount.

The food was good, service was good, great scenery being located across from the penitentiary, met some engaging local people. I would definitely return here. I liked the open air atmosphere.

The wait staff were pretty decent, but I usually judge places on their food mostly. From the outside they present themselves as an upper class place, but their food left much to be desired. I got the today chicken and bacon Mac and cheese, for the price I thought I was getting a decent size portion of chicken, but I'm reality it was just a chicken breast maybe 5 ounces. But the Mac and cheese was decent, as was the collard greens. My girlfriend had the bbq plate and literally everything on the plate tasted like it was straight out of the box from a freezer. The fries were good though...

Service was poor. Waitress was extremely rude. I was ordering take out; every item I asked for she said, sorry, were out right now. Waitress treated me so rude, it was clear she did not want to serve me. When I asked for the manager, she stated he was too busy to talk to me. Other than my race, I can't understand why she was so rude to me. Will NEVER go back!
