After visiting the casino with family members a few weeks ago, we received an invitation via email to come back and stay a free night at the hotel.. We also received one free buffet dinner and $15 each in credits to use in the casino. We were given a beautiful corner room with a private verandah furnished with pretty wicker furniture. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. The pillow top bed was luxuriously made up with fluffy comforters and the pillows were beyond imagination. They provided complimentary pretzels, coke, bottled water and coffee. The bathroom amenities were top quality. We enjoyed the bright clean casino where we played the slot machines all evening. I actually broke even but my husband fought to the bitter end and lost everything. It was a fun, noisy atmosphere and we had a great time. We also took advantage of the free buffet I had been given. My husband had to pay for his meal and I thought it was a little pricey at nearly $25. But we were pleasantly surprised to find the buffet over flowing with fresh seafood! Hubby ate two plates of crab legs, clams and shrimp! He said they were delicious. I had ribs and roast beef which were also very good. I was disappointed that there were no fresh breads but the mile long desert station was filled with any kind of desert you could think of. I took a taste of peach cobbler, bread pudding and a coconut cream tart. All of them were excellent! My husband went down to the snack bar to get us a midnight snack and brought back a tasty turkey sub. We split it and ate every morsel. It was spectacular! We revisited the buffet for breakfast and were not as pleased as we were with dinner. Husband got a freshly made omelet and was very happy with that. But the bacon I got was cold and greasy and the French toast was cold and leathery. The oatmeal was hot, as were the biscuits and gravy. I spied croissants and my mouth was doing the happy dance... I love fresh hot flaky croissants that pull apart into tender layers filled with steam ... but these were more like cold biscuits. I think they might have been brought in frozen and popped into the oven to warm them. It was a pity, for judging from the quality of the desserts served the previous evening, they obviously have a pastry chef who should know how to make fresh breads. The staff at the hotel, casino and especially the restaurant, were polite, knowledgeable and helpful in every way. Everyone made us feel welcome and seemed intent on ensuring we were comfortable and happy. Good job everyone! Even though I was slightly disappointed in breakfast it did not over shadow my over all experience. Go... you will be glad you did!! Maybe they will listen to me and they will be serving hot fresh breads by the time you get there! We can't wait to go back for another fun filled night.
