My wife and I along with six other people went to Jimmy's Seafood & Steakhouse on New Years Eve. it was a terrible experience, so bad in fact I turned to my wife and apologized for taking her there. To start there was a fixed menu and the price was set at $75.00 per person for dinner or $110.00 per person if you paired wines with each of the 3 courses, salad or soup, Entree and finally dessert. The server was the worst I have ever been served by but I knew this going in as he had worked at Olive St. Bistro, a restaurant in Shreveport and was horrible as a server there. I feel I am a good judge as I used to be a server and I also ran restaurants for 9 years. The asst. to the server kept our water glasses filled with bottled water until he ran out then filled our glasses with a water you could actually smell the chlorine in before it got to your mouth. The choices for soup or salad were either a Wedge salad or Lobster Bisque, please keep in mind that Lobster Bisque does have a main ingredient listed. Five of the eight at our table opted for the Bisque and I was one of those five. The Bisque got to the table and everyone took a taste of their "Bisque" as there was no Lobster to be found. I know this because we all asked each other where the Lobster was. The waiter finally came around with a small ramekin and a pair of sugar tongs and deposited a few chunks of Lobster in each bowl after saying he was sorry he had left it out. Lobster Bisque is not prepared as two separate components unless I suppose you are at Jimmy's Seafood and Steakhouse in Bossier City. Next came the main course. The choices were Surf & Turf, Tenderloin steak or Dover Sole. I opted for the Sole and my wife got the Surf and Turf. She asked for her steak to be cooked medium well, it got to the table charred on the edges and dry and well done in the middle. My Dover Sole can only be described as well, missing or lonely. I received two Silver dollar sized one and one half inch high servings of Dover Sole wrapped in Leek skin, one small potato carved to look like a mushroom, one quarter of a medium sized Beet and one quarter sized whole Turnip. Dover Sole is one of the better fish cuts with what is supposed to be a buttery taste. Mine was fishy tasting and not seasoned well at all. We sent the steak back for another and when it came out it was a bit better but by this time we had lost our appetite due to frustration and disappointment. When his plate of Dover Sole was set in front of my friend at the head of the table the look on his face said pretty much everything but being a sport I asked for his thoughts, they were this, "WTF is this sh*t" Time for dessert. On each plate was a three inch wide dark chocolate cup filled with dark chocolate cream (?) and topped with Raspberries and a blackberry, a chocolate dipped Driscoll Strawberry and a dish of Creme Brulet'. I know this may seem like a contradiction but that is way too much sweets for after dinner. All in all I can honestly say it was the worst dining experience I have ever had period. Unfortunately I had heard Jimmy's wasn't good but decided to go because even though my wife and I general stay in for New Years Eve and have done so for the last 15 years I thought it might be fun to go out with friends for a change. I have this to say to the waiter and staff that had anything to do with our experience, "Thank you for ruining what I thought would be a nice and enjoyable New Years Eve dinner with my wife and friends".
