Silver Slipper Casino

Having visited many casinos throughout the states, the Silver Slipper is akin to coming home. Though it is small by comparison to those in Biloxi, Tunica or out West, its friendly staff welcomes patrons with open arms…so to speak. And though it doesn't have a hotel, they have an RV Park just down the road. Even on the busiest nights, there is ample parking either along the sandy beach, in the free garage or via their complementary valet service (tips welcomed). From the front entrance, escalators deposit riders immediately into the casino with the players' club directly to the right. An elevator is available for wheelchairs and others in the need. A designated poker room, the bandstand and dance floor along with their three dining options line the outer walls while all the popular slots and table games take up the center of the casino. Along with Mississippi Stud, Three Card Poker, Roulette and Craps, there are several Black Jack tables available at all times. Minimum bets usually start at $5 however their double deck games start at $25. They do not offer single deck Black Jack. On particularly crowded nights they will offer a dollar multi-deck table, though. Advertised as the only area casino featuring crab legs on a nightly basis, the Jubilee Buffet offers good food however a limited selection for those of us who don't care for crab. For the price of the buffet, as much as $24.95, I prefer dining in the Blue Bayou Bar & Grill. For just a few dollars more, diners are treated to excellent steak, seafood and other delectable entrees. The Roast Duck is my favorite! Although reservations are required in the dining room with views of the gulf waters, diners have the option to sit at the bar at any time. The Palm Court Café is open 24/7 and offers grilled sandwiches, poor boys, all-you-can-eat catfish, etc…along with breakfast served at any time. Comps are accepted at all of Silver Slippers dining venues. Comps, give-a-ways, tournaments and other promotions are ongoing with everything from gift shop items to automobiles offered to contest winners. Their weekly Black Jack Tournament was well attended and needs to be reinstated, though. “If it ain't broke, don't fix it.” It's difficult to find anything to complain about the Silver Slipper Casino other than it is the coldest casino I've been in and I recommend taking a light jacket or sweater when visiting. Also, management…might think about repaving and relining the parking area (can't lay blame to Katrina or Isaac any longer)…
