If you are looking for a plush, new, and over-the-top hotel, the Franklin is probably not for you. However, if you are looking for a hotel that is clean, comfortable, and in the best possible location, you have found it. It is called a "historic" hotel for a reason...it is HISTORIC. The rooms have the original high ceilings, lighting, woodwork, windows, etc. The lobby welcomes you with a beautiful fireplace and seating area, fabulous ceilings, and a beautiful staircase. I love the old features, but again, this might not be for everyone. I certainly felt like I was transported back in time. At the hotel, the staff, including the doormen, front desk personnel, maids, and the bartender on the veranda, were very friendly and accommodating. We also found the staff at the Silverado to be very good, as was the brunch buffet. The price for a room was VERY reasonable, and the desk gave us coupons for discounts at the Silverado. It was a very busy weekend (Wild Bill Hickok Days), yet the hotel was very quiet. We requested not to have our room cleaned each day, as we felt it was not necessary. Without asking, the maid (I would guess), left a bundle of towels and toiletries at our door - not expected, but much appreciated. This was our second stay at this hotel and we will certainly stay again. Thank you for making the weekend of our 25th wedding anniversary a very pleasant and memorable occasion!
