Terrible resort. Keep in mind this is rated as a 5-star luxury resort in DR. The food here is awful, and often-times cold. The buffet food is on the same level as a Chili's or Denny's, with the fresh fruit being the only exception. After the 2nd day we decided that the only warm, fresh food you were going to get at the buffet was at the specialty stations where they cook it right in front of you - omelets and pasta ALL WEEK LONG. The specialty restaurants are a complete joke. One night we waited for about an hour at our table before we left and went to the "american grill" for cold fries and hockey puck hamburgers. The other restaurants were bland, with the only exception being the Spanish restaurant. The paella there was very good. I'm serious, you could get better meals at any local restaurant in your home town. So much for 5-star quality. "All inclusive" really means most of the restaurants (consequently, the French restaurant costs more), nasty, cracked, used snorkel masks, and ping pong on the beach. Everything else costs (a lot) of money, and you can barely enjoy a walk on the beach or near the pool without three people harassing you about paying for whatever rip-off service they're hocking. The room service was awful. I'm okay with them speaking Spanish, because we're at a Spanish-speaking country, but when you take 3 days to deliver soap to our room because you don't understand what I'm asking for, then that's a problem. And to top it off our credit card number was stolen from one of the shady on-site excursion booths (the only place we used our card, where they took a carbon copy of it) so when we got home we had a few hundred dollars added to our account - surprise! Thankfully the CC company took care of it, but we had to shred our cards and wait for new ones in the mail. Just the cherry on top of a crap sundae. Avoid this place like the plague and go to any one of a hundred resorts in Jamaica or Mexico where your dollar goes a lot further, you're treated like royalty, and they actually understand English. I imagine those who gave this resort high marks haven't gotten out much.
