Overview

MS Empress of the Seas is a cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International. She was formerly operated by Pullmantur Cruises as Empress. The ship was ordered by Admiral Cruises and was intended to be called the Future Seas and join the other Admiral ships, the Azure Seas and the Emerald Seas. However, when Royal Caribbean merged with Admiral in 1987, the Admiral brand was dissolved and the newbuild (still under construction) was incorporated into the Royal Caribbean fleet. A few signature Royal Caribbean brand elements were added, including the Viking Crown and Windjammer Cafe.

Empress of the Seas

Very small ship, rocky ride
After cruising 50+ times, this is the first time I've ever been seasick :(. I was approached by the casino host, Lonia. There are very few slot machines that are newer. The casino was empty most of the time. I would assume due to the lack of popular games. I was disgusted that after putting over $6,000 through the slots and NOT winning, I couldn't even get a steakhouse for 2??? I will never sail such a small ship again and I will pay better attention to the slots that are on board. I don't mind committing my money but I don't want to feel forced to play games I would never play just because of said commitment. There were also very few quality shows or comedians. We were in a Junior Suite...hmmm. This room was smaller than any balcony room I've ever been in. If you are a 200+ lb person, you might not be able to fit in the shower. Not joking! Only 1 pool and it was tiny. This ship, in my honest opinion, should be decommissioned.

New Years Cruise in Empress
Had a great time on this cruise. Small older ship well maintained Great service on the ship, good food and drinks Stopped in Key West and Coco Cay Coco Cay is great. Nice beaches, pool, water park And great food. Good selection of slots in the casino. Didn’t see any hand pays or big jackpot winners. Casino staff not very friendly or interacting with players.

Empress of the Seas

small but sweet
i was very surprised by the size of the ship I thought i would dislike it but it was just the opposite. It was easy to navigate and very cozy. The Food was just ok at best we ate in the main dinning room late sitting the Service was EXCELLENT the whole ship the crew was the best and i have cruised for 20 years . The casino is small it was very hard to get on tables we had a lot of gamblers on this cruise. All in all i enjoyed my cruise very much. what I did miss is they had no let it ride tables. The ports of call where great.

Great time on Smallest ship in the world!
After adjusting to the smallest ship ever, we had a great trip! Service was excellent! Casino was extremely small and slot machines were very tight! Probably won’t be going on this ship ever again!

Had complimentary inside cabin, at best very small, but comfortable. Had excellent service in cabin. Food quality as always was excellent, both in windjammer cafe and starlight restaurant. Had my time dining, if you choose this dining preference ask for mark and Renee rose, you will not regret it. Casino gives you play for your money just think they should have newer machines to keep up with the times. Trip was exceptional and we had the best casino host “Stephanie” there ever could be. Thanks Stephanie had a fantastic trip

Empress of the Sea Cruise to Cuba
Rooms were very spacious. I had a Jr. Suite. The ship was very nice and the staff was amazing. The food was above expectation. Only negative is the Casino is small and they use the electronic shuffle for Poker games. A big dislike on my part.
