Holidays and Lighted Lanterns Christmas and New Year celebrations in America are usually for families and friends getting together to enjoy feasting and gift giving. Decorations are often full of colors and lights. Families do not often go out at night but stepping out to look at bright colorful lanterns that are larger than life size can be worth while during the holidays. Chinese handicraft with childhood fantasies of animals, castles, creatures light the night and fascinate our imagination. Cool night air for walking around, taking photos, eating street food, shopping handmade jewelry and decorations, plus watching acrobats complete the family experience.

I went for the Chinese Lantern Light Festival, the festival itself was very interesting. They serve your typical fair food and the grounds appeared well kept. Parking is quite a distance from the actual venue, but there is a little tram that runs periodically. Overall it was a good experience.

Went to the dinosaur exhibit with the kids and they had a blast. Could have had a little more added to the dinosaur theme and possibly some tour guides to offer more opportunities for the kids to become educated on what they were looking at and enjoying. And last but not least some free rides.

The Chinese Lantern Festival 2019 is held at this Fairgrounds with lots of dazzling and glittering lights. The giant dragon with its head moving to and fro welcomes you at the main entrance bringing in China culture and a lot of interesting history. Everything is fantastic, well done! Pricey entrance fees though.. for a family of four you spend more than hundred dollars but I think it’s all worth it because there are gorgeous displays to look around and kids enjoy all the inflatables, mini golf, dinosaur rides, acrobat shows and the gorgeous lanterns! Lots of souvenirs to buy and food is all around, you can spend a lot of money here.. Parking is not a problem, ample space for visitors. Rest rooms are always cleaned. Worth visiting , great Asian experience!

This place is amazing! I had a wonderful time. I also felt safe to park due to the patrol of local law enforcement. Freaking awesome sauce! My favorite part of the day was about mid day when I walked into a building and got a few Carmel apples and a long free massage. Thanks ! -Kali

Growing up in MN this is as good of a fairground experience as any. Classic fare of fair foods but a bit on the commercial generic side. Would love to see this stepped up for personality and more mom/pop flavors presentation and taste but that's not to say there aren't some real winners in their offerings. Specifically I loved the tots n brisket I ordered which were fantastic, and there's definitely an array of interesting fair only kinds of foods you'll find. Alameda County Fair is great because it also has the traditional offerings like county art, baking competitions, farm animal and plant competitions, etc. This year we were even treated with legit horse races and betting. Worth a trip but come early for parking and look for Groupon deals which are a significant savings over the door prices.

This huge annual car show covering acres of indoor and outdoor car expo area should not be missed. Hours of walking around appreciating so many labors of love. The most beautifully restored classic, vintage, muscle cars, you name it. The auto-related flea market there is where to look for just the right vintage part to restore your car, or to check out other Americana or memorabilia. Hints, Remember to stay hydrated in the heat, bring plenty of cash for parking and carnival-food, and to stay hydrated. Come early to miss the heat, and walk around before the crowds arrive.

Great fair with lots to do. Larger than your average city fair because of the horse races, exhibits and food trucks. Probably the largest I've seen in California but I don't usually go to fairs anyway so take that with a grain of salt. Parking is easy and accessible but also close to the fair so you don't have to walk more than 5-10 minutes.
