It's hardly" the one of the kind" museum, they proclaim. I've seen such exhibits,at modern art or history museums, many times before my recent visit to;The Wolfsonian. At best, they present their exhibits,a little differently.
A very interesting museum! They specialize in Soviet Propoganda and they also have household items from different eras on display. You don't see exhibitions like this in other museums. I think this might be a hidden gem, because we were the only people there for a while, and then only two more families came. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there was a whole floor that was closed, and one of the floors was just the lobby to the closed library with one glass case with journals.
I loved it here. The exhibits were very well thought out. I only wish there was more of a permanent exhibit in place. I could spend all day in an art deco museum, but I understand why museums here would get tired of that. The museum store was also an attraction in itself.
Isabel, the tour guide at 6 o'clock (free entry btw) was very expressive, very knowledgeable and engaged the crowd... Definitely recommending the tour with her
Lots of very high quality items for sale in the shop and there is a coffee shop for your convenience. Air conditioning for those hot Miami days. Well worth a visit.
Be sure to stop by on a Friday night between 6-9 for free admission! Yes free in Miami! Its fun and educational yet relaxed. Bring the kids, there is a lot to do. Great shop with a fun coffee bar
Oh this was amazing visiting. The tour guide was knowledgeable and in my opinion not bias. He spoke of the beginning of ships. Well not the beginning but as far as there were images and itineraries from old cruises. Amazing to see what wowed people
On Fridays from 6-9, the museum is free. Therefore, if you’re in South Beach, it’s worth stopping in. The exhibits are interesting and the view from the 6th floor of South Beach is a pleasant surprise.
Intro film sets up goal of collector and museum. Driving force for collection is all that the industrial revolution created to make modern lives more interesting and efficient. Wolfson notes his collection and personal interest are contrary to what comes from nature; he is steadfastly fascinated by that which man creates for enjoyment. Period is 1920s through art deco and beyond
What a beautiful venue and with different management. Had the opportunity to work with this venue on a festival and it was a pleasure. If you're visiting Miami you must visit this museum. Such an art selection they have!
