Wonderful old fashion hotel in the heart of Deadwood. Walking distance to restaurants, music, shows, and gambling. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient small bar.
Quaint rooms, hot shower, clean, and historical. Not fancy or modern. Bed had nice linens, unique art work, and an old fashion elevator. A must if staying in Deadwood.
I don't know if there are new owners or not, but when my husband I stayed here about 10 years ago, it was disgusting. We were on a motorcycle trip with two other couples. We rode to South Dakota from New Jersey. Our power went out in our room when I went to use my blow dryer for my hair. We called the desk, no one answered. My husband went out searching for the fuse box in the hallway. We had to go out on a roof to get to our room. One morning we woke to find people sleeping on cots in the hallway outside our door. We had bed bugs - my legs had so many bites it was painful. When I wrote to the establishment voicing my concerns after I arrived home, I heard nothing in response. I know I am writing this ten years too late, but I'm not sure if this venue was available to post on back when we took our trip! I would never recommend this to anyone!.I had to give it one star so it would give me the option to post otherwise, I would not have given any stars at all. As for a view they claimed we would have...we looked out at the wall of rock behind the building and could see the houses built there. They said we would see wildlife. There would be no wildlife climbing those rocks. Truly the most disgusting place we have ever stayed.
This is the coolest place I've ever stayed! There's an old time elevator that has a screen or wrought iron type door. Sounds creaky when it goes up. The rooms are comfortable and old fashioned. There's an antique shop below. Love it!
Old building but all the essentials provided. Spacious two bedroom suite for a reasonable price. The ancient elevator lost it's charm after we had to make several trips on the stairs to get it going again. Service was good.
Gorgeous hotel! Love the history of the building! The maintenance man was very friendly, helpful and took time to help us even though he was clocked out! Will go back for sure!!
