Fair Grounds Race Course

Slots are super tight. Have been early morning, middle of day, late nites, and weekends. Not only have I not won but don't see too many other people winning either. Instead of entertaining, it was actually sad.

Fair Grounds Race Course

We were pleasantly surprised! We came to see our first horse races ona Friday afternoon and were greeted by people who graciously instructed us on how to place our bets and told us what was going to happen around us that we could choose to to enjoy as we wanted. Loved the horses being walked right up to where we were standing to view before placing our wagers. An employee from the track also checked on us and helped show us important things to notice in the program and to explain what was happening in the races. The bathrooms at the track are the cleanest public bathrooms I have ever been in! The drinks in the bar were weak, but it was attached to the casino so it was not a surprise. Fun experience! Would highly recommend for entertainment.

Fair Grounds Race Course

This place has many events. One of my favorites was the wiener dog racing. Lots of outdoor bleachers for a really low price. Also, their food that you can order at the counter inside is surprisingly SO GOOD. Also, jazz fest is held here and they do a complete transformation of the field. You can’t even tell it is used to race horses (and wiener dogs)

Fair Grounds Race Course

My visit to this "Fair Grds. Race Course" was actually for the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It's a great space for this because it includes 11 stages set up for a variety of music...something for everybody. It's a fun festival but the admission cost keeps growing and may soon be out of my reach. Great music but a little more commercialized that it once was (as many venues are) now seeking corporate sponsors.

This is where JAZZ FEST in NOLA is held. It is enormous and exciting. Hundreds of thousands attend each year from all over the world. I try to get to at least one day each year and more if I can. I especially enjoy the Native Louisiana craft area and the artists who come to share their work. The music is amazing and non stop. I have seen some of my favorite musicians at this location. I also learned on my most recent trip that the Race Track has a special Thanksgiving event involving costumes and big hats: I'm in!!!

Fair Grounds Race Course

I was there for the Jazz Festival. The grounds are beautifully maintained. I didn't see an ant as I sat on the ground for hours. That's is incredible difficult in the south. The festival is a top of the line amazing experience. The venue is a large part of the reason. The large crowd was well care for. Trash , toilets and fabulous food was handled perfect.

Fair Grounds Race Course

Besides hosting New Orleans jazz and heritage fest, there is also horse racing here locally. Season starts on Thanksgiving and runs through early April. Definitely splurge and get into the clubhouse and if possible book a table. Makes it easier to spend a day there without standing in line for food or drinks every time you want something. You can also place bets from your table. While the food is good it isn't anything to write home about. Definitely and all day outting or great way to spend Thanksgiving.
