Dingy dive bar, overpowering odour of stale beer with sticky tables and over priced breakfast. Heard it was one of those awesome dives with cheap breakfast but could have had a nice brunch for the price.
Great breakfast deal for cheap. Good atmosphere, lots of TV's. I only ever eat breakfast here, but the morning staff is great. It's always packed here during Griz games. They have a full liquor store and casino attached to a full bar.
The food at the Press Box is fantastic. I tend to avoid the daily specials at most other places, however, the specials here are great. If you're looking for a bar to catch the game, it's very hard to find a better spot. You can stand in almost any location and have a clear view of a screen.
There are dart boards in the lower portion of the bar as well with plenty of room and tables to play a few games while hanging out with friends. The lower portion also has a super friendly waitress on staff.
If you're thinking of catching a major sport event here, however, you should show up early as the place will fill up fast and be packed!
I arrived and sat at the bar. The place was about a third full or so on a football Sunday. The bartender took nearly ten minutes to acknowledge me. I asked for a draft beer and a menu.
Beer and menu came quickly. I ordered pasta and salad, and while I waited for my food I watched football on one of many screens.
The bartender brought my salad with the main course. He said "totally forgot about your salad, my bad".
The food was good enough.
Finished my beer halfway through the meal and it took the bartender quite awhile to notice and offer me another. He wasn't busy, and was talking with another employee the whole time.
It's a sports bar and I was drinking draft beer. I wasn't expecting a professional waiter, but how hard is it to keep a draft beer full?
Conveniently located across the river from the UM Campus, the Press Box is a great place to catch food and/or drink before and after a Griz game. The morning breakfast deal is great and the Pizza's are pretty darned good in the evening. I'd stay away from the steak.
