The place is great to relax and enjoy the beach. They have many tours to choose from right from the hotel. All inclusive includes alcohol. It's not the high end alcohol but if you like whiskey they offer Jim Beam which is not bad. I gave it four 🌟 because I went to their "club" and I was the only one there on a Thursday night. It's not the most happening place to hang out in. People walked in and just walked out because of how empty it was. I went to the "casino" but it was just a table and machines. I was disappointed about the night life and decided to go back to the pool. It was closed. Apparently, the close it down by 8ish. Later on, I found out that the real night life is in Coco Beach. They have shuttles that take you there and back but they have a time limit. Just be careful with the shady taxis that will charge an arm and a leg to get back to the Riu. Other than that I enjoyed my stay with endless drinks and a beautiful beach!

Great Hotel destination to get away and recharge those batteries. Location is isolated but situated in a calm bay with surrounding wooded cliffs. Decent snorkeling right off the beach (dark volcanic sand) near the rocks. Hotel staff give excellent service. The food is mostly adequate quality. I tended to eat more fruit, veg, rice and black beans as the week went on because they were great quality and my body craved them. I also couldn’t get enough of the drinking water. It didn’t taste chlorinated and was good for making tea.To get places you will need to go with a tour or rent a car when you fly in to Liberia.

Awesome. The only downer was the casino. It was too "childish" if that can be applied to a casino. The beach is not the Caribbean so don't expect white sand and clear water Everting else was great. The food is incredible and the entertainment was fun. The rooms are adequate and the staff cannot be nicer. Definitely will be returning.

The Hotel Riu Guanacaste is an all-inclusive resort. As such, it offers amenities like the Grand Palace in Cancun though I wouldn't rate it as high because the food quality is not as good but it's worth a 4-star. It also does not offer video game room that the Grand Palace does. Unlike the Grand Palace, it does not hassle its guests with buying membership, which to me makes for a more comfortable experience. I absolutely dislike the passive aggressive sales experience. You can easily spend a day at the beach. Though the sand is a bit rocky, the warm water makes up for it. You can also reserve paddle boarding and single/double kayaking but you have to reserve a day in advance. All in all, Hotel Riu Guanacaste is worth every penny. It's about $1,000 cheaper than the Grand Palace so I have to take that into consideration. I would come back again. Costa Rica is an absolute gem. I hope it stays lush, green, and unpolluted for generations to come.

Beautiful property well maintained. Gorgeous beach. Front desk staff is always available and helpful, albeit not the friendliest Ticos I met. The wait staff is lovely. The food is mediocre but everything else at this resort more than makes up for that. I would go back in a heartbeat. The tour guides on the beach are WONDERFUL. Be sure to find them in planning your excursions!

The place is GORGEOUS! The food is amazing. Beautiful grounds, so very green and very well kept. 5 restaurants to all kinds of tastes - Steak house, Italian, Asian, Seafood and International buffet. Kids club is good, their staff is awesome, I just wish their hours would be a bit different. Animation team is great. The one at pools and beach keeps you entertained all day long. The dance team makes great shows in the evening. Front desk staff is nice and helpful. Service is great from re-stocking your mini-bar (every 2 days) to cleaning your room (every dsy), or waiting your tables or making your drinks at bars. We loved it. *the only thing they need to work better on keeping beach clean. Highly recommend for family vacation!

We loved staying here. First off, the chefs took great care in preparing food for my toddler that has a lot of food allergies, after 8 days of being there they became our friends. The food was incredible and fresh, lots of restaurants to choose from. All of the staff were so kind to us! If you have small children, I would recommend requesting a room that faces the jungle view. We had to move because our original room was directly above the theater where they had entertainment every night until 11pm and it was noisy. The family room worked out well for us with small children, as they are slightly larger and have king and double beds. The beach was beautiful, the pool inviting, and we had a very relaxing time even with small children. We hope to go back someday!!

Really nice hotel, larger than I normally stay at, about 700 rooms. Food is plentiful and well cooked, with a choice of one main buffet, and 4 other styled restaurant - Italian, Asian, Stake, Gourmet. 24hr bar next to the reception with snacks - sports bar. It's a lively mix of English and North America guests mainly. Hotel is well maintained and spotlessly clean, any faults are put right straight away. Our mini bar had a leak sorted and replaced within 30 minutes of reporting it.
