Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino

Checkin takes a long time. No one answers the phone at night. My bathroom was missing soap and had a limited number of towels. Food wasn't great, even for an all inclusive resort. The late night menu selection is limited and has like 3 entrees. Takes a very long time for room service to be delivered. Drink selection isn't great. Even with the diamond upgrade you can't get higher quality stuff like black label vs red label.

Now I’m not one to write a review, but I think users put there should be aware and read a REAL, honest review from a guest staying at the resort this week. First off. Don’t believe all the hype of the hotel. Let’s start with the good. It’s clean. The bed is comfy but at this point is where the good ends for the resort. The resort is small, which is fine, but the amenities shut down early. There is no night life. There is no beach life or entertainment during the day. No sports. There is not much to do. The resort is family oriented and packed with children galore. Don’t like kids? Upgrade to the Hideaway. For what purpose? Why use a private pool when you travel on vacation for a beach. There are no late night snacks - or should I say availability of service on site. The late night “sports bar”, got both drink and food orders wrong. We decided to come back to the room and order room service - was told to wait 45 minutes - a hour later and still no food. Was asked to wait yet another 15 minutes. The food on all accounts has been subpar. We’ve been prodded, and borderline harassed by staff (for “opportunities” aka timeshare presentations and beach “sales”). Overall the resort is lifeless and we were told it wasn’t even the off-season. For a “luxury resort” we sure have been made to feel below average. We’re only on day two I guess it can only go up from here but we are not hopeful. This is not the quality we have received from other Royalton reports. Would not recommend.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino

We went here for our honeymoon. It was a huge disappointment. We had booked a "luxury room with an ocean view". We got a room no nicer than your average Holiday Inn. It had chipped furniture, a mini fridge that wasn't cold, holes in the curtains and comforter, and an outdated TV. Apparently the "ocean view" we paid extra for means the ability to see some tiny sliver of the ocean if you angle yourself just right on your balcony. Our travel agent had booked the trip with all of the honeymoon amenities (honeymooners sign on door, champagne, rose petals), so we were surprised to find none of them there when we arrived. When we finally asked, we were informed that another couple was given our original room just before we arrived with all of the amenities meant for us still in it. Huh?!! The electricity went out about ten times on one of the nights we were there and we had no water for an entire evening. We asked if this was normal and were told it happens quite frequently. You also have to bug them constantly to provide the things they indicate come with your all inclusive stay. We didn't get our complimentary bottle of alcohol until the 5th day of our trip, and that was after asking for it every day and being told someone was "on their way with it" each time. They also don't restock your mini-bar, besides water. For the last few nights of our trip, all we had left in the mini bar was water. I wish it ended there, but it didn't. On our first day we had asked the concierge how to book an appointment at the spa. He indicated that we should wait to book an appointment and "because it was our honeymoon, he was going to talk to his manager about getting us a free massage". After stringing us along for days, we found out on day 4 that the free massage had nothing to do with us being on our honeymoon and involved sitting through a three hour time share presentation. In the end, we booked our own message. I can't say enough how big of a disappointment this place was. There was one exceptional concierge, Walker, who stepped up to try to help us. Everyone else was extremely dismissive of our complaints. Avoid this place at all costs. If you do go, pray you get Walker as your concierge.

This place is an exercise in extremes. Lots of good and not so good. Good food and great location. Nice beach and swimming. Some staff are great and some are indifferent to non-caring. Food was generally quite good but not outstanding. Staff kept promising to come and drip off water or coffee or fix something and never came. Called and called and never came. Cancun was a lot nicer. Newer, better trained staff and better food. Wouldn't recommend unless you get a great deal.

This resort is great. The beach was pristine. The rooms were clean. I enjoyed their theatre shows, late night club and casino. The food buffet was good. The thing not drawback is that the bathroom in the refrigerator m was small but The enjoyed my swim out room.

Every Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at outclasses this place. Where do I even start with this place? First off, this isn't a five star resort. Not even close. Secondly, the "hospitality" from most of the staff is laughably bad. They act like you are bothering them, and expect to wait a LONG time when you order food or drinks. When you get coffee at the coffee shop, it comes in a cup the size of a shot glass. Really? They are really stingy on serving sizes, and that gets old quickly. Third, the staff and their constant badgering of guests to buy timeshares gets old REAL QUICK. For some reason, they let outside vendors set up shop in the resort. Again, these people are pushy and annoying. Finally, a lot of the place is just dirty, such as dinner plates in the buffet line.

Great hotel. Facilities are excellent and the hotel is not too big as is the recent trend. Other newer hotels we looked at were grander but very impersonal and lacked atmosphere. The Sands Beach Bar and the beach location is very atmospheric and relaxing. The mangroves just outside the front of the hotel are beautiful and are full of wild birds and wildlife. A must see right by the hotel. Staff very friendly and attentive. Regular rooms are a little smaller than expected with minimal storage.Three small draws and a small wardrobe. This is okay for a weekend break for not for a two week vacation. Food is good and beach location is tremendous. As seems to be the trend there arent enough pools which are great but always busy. Don't expect any snorkelling though as it's a long Sandy beach

The location of this hotel is superb. The beach is just at your feet. You are assisted by a team of professionals always displaying a helpful attitude. I adored spending few hours lying down in the beach hammocks, eating some snacks and drinking some exotic cocktails. Also, to top my experience, the sea had perfect size waves for me to play body surf with my children. I am glad and happy of being there during my march break.

Myself and my partner stayed here last July for a week. The hotel was everything we could of wanted and more. The rooms were very luxurious, the resort was very well looked after and clean, the food was brilliant. We highly recommend the steak house we ate here 3 times in the week. Best steak ever!! The hotel is seconds away from the beach. The staff serve drinks on the beach which was lovely. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no issues with the concierge people in the hotel. Highly recommend the Saona island day out that was incredible. We thought the entertainment at night was okay but was nothing special. We had a welcome meeting when we arrived which was really helpful, advising of dangers and good day trips out. Highly recommend this hotel 10/10!!

Did not stay here but at the sister resort Memories. We had family that was staying here at the same time as us for a wedding. The grounds are more upscale and it seemed larger but may have just been more open. We saw lots of activities happening(water aerobics and foam party) and the beach is great. Food is also decent. I'd possibly go back here if we were heading to DR again.
