Last night we spent the night in the Sands Hotel and spent quite a few hours in the casino. Unfortunately, we did not think to get Sands playing cards. We played the slots for quite a few hours, and even though we didn't hit any jackpots, we had a very enjoyable time.
Unfortunately for us, for dinner my cousin Paula made a reservation for 6:30 for the four of us at Emeril's Italian Table. We weren't called until 7:00. We started our meals with an appetizer of fried calamari. I can definitely say, because we are Italian, that it was the worst calamari we have ever had. It was followed by a mixed garden vegetables salad which was extremely wilted and the tomatoes were bad (sour). We referred to it as being a "dead" salad. We asked our waitress (a very nice young lady) to please take it back to the kitchen and give us a freshly made salad. The second salad came out the same way. We couldn't eat it. Our entrees consisted of 2 scampi and spaghetti entrees with five little shrimp which were drowning in enough oil to clog our arteries for a very long time.
We were very disappointed with our meals overall, and felt that Emeril would like to know that his "bam" food was unsatisfactory. The other two meals were chicken piccata which was dry and tasteless, and the pasta and meatball entree which was tasteless.
Our bill came to $120. We left the restaurant both disillusioned and hungry.

Good for a fine dining experience at a price that won't leave you too disappointed after you've blown all your money at the slots.

Normally we have a great experience at this restaurant. Last night, however, was a totally different story. We were celebrating my mother's 93rd birthday. We had 7:15 PM reservations for 3 people. We were greeted well, our order for calamari appetizer and two Sangrias taken. Everything went downhill from there! Our food was not served for a very long time. People were coming and leaving before we even ate! My sister's steak was totally raw and my food was cold. My mother's was ok. She ate her dinner while we watched. We waited another long time for our meals to be warmed. Servers were totally indifferent. Then we had to wait a long time for our check. Didn't get to leave until 9:00 PM. They offered nothing for my mom's birthday and basically we didn't enjoy a meal together - just embarrassment and some aggravation. Disappointed to say the least. Thanks, Alice Engelke

Spectacular golf course...5 tees...in immaculate condition...fun to play...will challenge the best players...very friendly staff... beautiful clubhouse and locker rooms... excellent food...expansive practice area.

Walked in after a concert at the waterfront. Hadn't had anything to drink in over an hour and didn't even make it past the door man. Was asked to leave because we looked intoxicated. I didn't even say anything. Was it the heavy metal tshirt? Maybe? I thought money was money no matter what you wore or looked like... Other than that, it's gambling be smart win or lose its mostly luck.

This is a beautiful place to stay, eat, relax... It's a true Costa Rica experience! Priced Right!

This food was so delicious we came back for a second meal. Guacamole was best I’ve ever had. All of our meals were fantastic. We had Surf and turf, tuna steak, sirloin steak, and shrimp skewers... all were incredible. Atmosphere was pretty and service was fun and enjoyable.
