Review for Gran Bahia Principe La Romana Review For Gran Bahia Principe La Romana Google User Dec 27 '15 at 13:53 Worst vacation ever - i don't know what the hell is wrong with this hotel, but 90% of our party got sick. We didn't drink tap water, didn't use tap water to brush our teeth, were extremely careful with using tap water , but still got sick. Half of the hotel was sick, i saw people not able to get to washroom in time and vomiting in the bushes. In my opinion, this hotel should be closed for full sanitization until problem is solved. My wife got so sick, that we had to use wheelchair in La Romana airport. I'm seriously considering law action against both the hotel and Transat. Transat was another disappointment - their agent in the hotel was missing most of the time and was not helpfull at all. Hotel is dated, feels like 50 year old - AC in the rooms sounds like Boeing 747 taking off, white towels are grey and look like they were in use for last 20 years. Food was worst in all our travel experiences to Caribbean - buffet choices are very poor and not appealing : I never had so much chicken for lunch and dinner in week, like this last week. Salads are not fresh, meat choice is non existent and fish is overcooked. We were suppose to get three a la carte meals, but were told that they have space only at one restaurant. What's the point of promising something and not delivering?? Then we spoke with Transat agent about this he basically ignored us. At he end the only a la carte restaurant we were able to get was "Japanese" Takara restaurant - real Japanese would commit seppuku just after seeing the food. We also booked snorkeling excursion to Catalina island, but because half of our party were sick, we had to cancel it. Getting refund took 3 days, running between hotel stuff, tour company and Transat agent.BT Tours excursions provider employees were extremely rude, took considerable amount of time and effort to get our money back.Disappointing. Hotel Staff - bartenders and waitresses in the pool bar and lobby bar were great, buffet staff needs to be trained - they were spending more time chit-chatting with each over then helping guest. You had to actually raise your voice or waive your hand just to get glass of water. Almost every time you were left missing piece of cutlery or napkin or glass. The only good thing about this disaster of vacation was weather. 7 days of sun. Of course we had to stay in our rooms for half of it, because we were sick. In conclusion - stay away!!!! At least for now, because place has a potential to be a great hotel.. View full site to comment or like
