I only stay at the Ameristar up in Black Hawk. I gamble plenty, and I get a free room and buffets every month.
That being said, the standard rooms are great, though if you are picky, the rooms could use some upkeep and could be cleaned better. I am still more than satisfied since the rooms are cheap and or free depending on your gambling.
The room service is always quick and tasty. The prices are reasonable. The “fast food” outlet on the casino floor is tasty and convenient. The fireside restaurant is also a great option and priced OK. I have never been to The Timberline Grill, it seems quite expensive.
As for the gambling, I don’t play slots much as they are very tight. The video poker is quite loose though. The table games are always fun with mostly hospitable dealers. Tip decently and you will be treated very well, though it’s obviously not required.
All in all I love the Ameristar Black Hawk and will only stay and gamble here.
