Casino Comp Questions with Craig Vol 14.

How will cruise lines deal with casino players who get quarantined from sickness?

The coronavirus, which is big news right now, is probably the reason for this question. At this moment there is a minuscule chance that somebody that we booked will get quarantined.

The cruise lines are not going to expect you to continue playing at the same level you would normally if you got quarantined. It would not affect your offers if you find yourself in that situation.

What if I see a better Comp on a sailing I'm already booked on?

For explanation purposes, let's say you booked a cruise on March 1st one year ago. At that time you qualified for an Inside Cabin Comp. One month from your cruise the cruise line gives URComped a special offer that includes the sailing you booked, and now you qualify for a comp balcony on that sailing.

Now you are probably wanting to get a COMP upgrade, which won't work. "Short Notice" offers are for new bookings only. Cruise lines want to sell all their cabins at a high price, so 2-3 years in advance they will set the prices for all these cabins and the booking window will open. Then more often than not, a couple of weeks from the sailing, the cruise line realizes they will probably not sell their last 20 cabins at the rate they originally wanted.

Then the cruise line will go to the casino department with the short notice sailings and ask them to fill them with casino players. This way they're filling the cabins, they're making money on the cabins and they're not having to publish a lower rate online. So the reason "Short Notice" offers are for new booking only is because the cruise line is just trying to fill all the cabins.

The cruise lines won't let us use those types of offers to upgrade people.

What determines the category comp you qualify for?

URComped does not determine what criteria qualifies a player for a comp. We follow the directions of the cruise lines. That can vary on a cruise by cruise basis. An Alaskan cruise in the summer is going to be at a higher value than a cruise from Miami in the fall. In other words, to determine what someone qualifies for is really a supply and demand question. Based on the offers you upload and the onboarding process we use, we will figure out a projected value for the player and then we're able to offer them sailings and different cabin categories based on that. Then after their first trip, we use the actual play data that we receive.

What is the refund policy on a comped cruise if health prevents sailing?

It's case by case and cruise on by cruise line. It is also subject to how far out you are canceling. Definitely ask your URComped Host.
