I've spent every Thanksgiving weekend for the last 7 years at the Peppermill and they never disappoint.
Everything is first class:Top notch Front Desk/Concierge/Housekeeping Service; clean, comfortable rooms great restaurant/bar option, variety of gaming.
Room: I always stay in the Peppermill tower Double Queen room on the higher floors( for the view of downtown and the mountains). The rooms are have a little more space for 2 people than a standard double room, without feeling too smothered. The beds are super comfy to the point where I booked an extra day just so I could enjoy a full morning in bed. The bathroom is modern and clean with quality toiletries and a large shower head and large grab bar.
Extra star for adding a refrigerator and a Keurig machine to the room(still waiting for the microwave). :-)
There's so many activities/amenities from the fitness center(complete with steam room and sauna) to the Full Service Spa(I recommend the Aromatherapy Massage) to the Arcade/Play Game for the kids . There's also a nightclub with free salsa lessons on Friday night, that I have yet to check out, but I will update my review on my next visit.
As for gaming: it's pretty much on the same level as more surrounding casinos. I have yet to win(or see anyone else win) a large jackpot. I think there's too many penny machines and not enough quarters machines. Personally, I prefer the blackjack tables over the slots.
My favorite part of the resort is the Tuscany area with the spacious layout, comfy couches and lounge chairs throughout the lobby and the Terrace Lounge. It's a nice little escape from the casino madness where you can chill with a glass of wine, a good book or zone out to the video wall art while listening to the live band in the lounge.
The only (slight) con is the long buffet lines on Thanksgiving and Friday nights...but after 7 years you get used to it.
I look forward to my next visit to the Peppermill. I will update my review with my first summer visit next year!
