Not my first visit to the LAuberge casino, I returned for a weekend visit on New Years Eve. Compared to other casinos in Louisiana its above par, but the casino seems a bit bland inside. It lacks that major resort/casino feel and more resembles the smaller casino's you find on Indian reservations across New Mexico and Oklahoma.
With the Golden Nugget opening next door recently, I feel it has upped the game, because now you can just shuttle door to door, taking advantage of offers at both properties, including restaurants.
Game selection in the casino is about average for casinos in the area. More of the generic branded machines, less of the TV show and celebrity themed machines. Plenty of penny, and quarter machines, even a selection of half dollar machines. Table games had high minimums.
I've received some hotel offers from this hotel in the past, which is what brought me in the first time. 5 hours out from San Antonio, the combination of the 2 hotels side by side makes this a good weekend getaway.
