After weeks of research into other islands we decided to book our Honeymoon in Aruba at the Barcelo. We were primarily interested in the package that they offered online. The "Grand Romance" package. Considering it was our honeymoon and we would also be celebrating his birthday, we opted for this package as well as we upgraded our room to beach front with a Jacuzzi bathtub. I wanted to surprise him with having dinner on the beach for his birthday. Couples massages to follow the day after. We called and confirmed the reservation 4 times and advised that we would be celebrating our honeymoon and his birthday. Upon check in, we were presented a "The Grand Journal". This listed other people's honeymoons and anniversaries - but not ours. Being Jet lagged, I just let it slide by. The next day during reservations we were told that since we UPGRADED we LOST the "Grand Romance" package. After speaking with 3 managers as well as Martin and David in Reservations, they flat out refused to honor it and refused to accommodate us in any way. No apology, no refund, nothing at all. They made it a point to not even look at us while walking through the lobby! To worsen the issue, they used a master room key and walked into our room while I was getting dressed. Silly me for not using the larger lock after that because once again, they walked in while I was bathing! Someone else's laundry was delivered to our room and they randomly dropped off an unnecessary couch. While I am contacting their corporate office, I thought I would warn others. I wish I would have know. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars on what I thought would be a "dream trip".
