Whenever we take a weekend trip to Lake Charles, we always are loyal to L'Auberge when it comes to where we stay and gamble. This most recent trip, August 20- August 22, was less than average. One experience in particular really left a bad impression on me.
The Southern Cooking restaurant seemed like a good choice for an early lunch before making our way to the pool. We were seated at our patio table quickly and it seemed like it was going to be a normal dining experience. We placed our drink order, an iced tea for me and a ginger-ale and glass of water for my boyfriend. It took about 10 minutes to get the drinks on the table once ordered. The ginger-ale was presented in a glass bottle. No glass, no ice. We placed our food order. About 20 minutes went by and we never saw the waitress once. We had to ask another waitress, who was diligently working on her own tables, for a glass of ice for the ginger-ale, which she quickly brought it out for us. The food finally arrived. Not the best cold grilled cheese sandwich, but at this point I was so hungry that I didn't mind the low quality. My boyfriend gave me cash to close the tab and was going to run up to the room to grab something he had forgotten, and he would meet me at the pool; because surely I would have the tab closed by then. I sat there for about 10 minutes looking around, went inside, looked around, sat back out at the table.... Looked around. Finally went to the hostess stand and asked if I could pay my tab and was asked who my waitress was. She had attitude and said "well, who was your waitress?" I explained I didn't know and she was basically telling me to figure it out. Finally she used the floor chart to figure it out herself, so I could finally leave. I got it paid and saw my boyfriend walking my way and he said, "you're still here!!??"
Went to the pool, all along the sides of the lazy river was trash and beer cans, cigarette buts put out in beer caps.
Just wasn't the best experience. The people that work there seem angry, and you can definitely tell they don't like their jobs, they don't care, and are ready to go home. I think maybe there needs to be a morale boost.
On a high note, the service at Asia is aways above and beyond.
I now want to try staying at Tillman's place across the way, just to see if there is a difference, or if its just something in the water in Lake Charles.
