My honeybunny and I were drawn into the Gold-N-Silver because it's was neither a chain nor a casino; we're burned out on casino food as it's gotten pricier and lower quality.
The ambiançe is seriously 1970s; think "Rockford Files". The staff are friendly and welcoming and patient, and weather questions with grace and good humor. The menu (avail online) is worthy of a museum exhibit on comfort foods.
I went with the chicken fried steak; HB chose pancakes with chocolate stuff. We shared. Portions were huge, everything arrived just as ordered, looked good, and tasted even better.
The coffee kept flowing without our needing to beg; thank you, thank you.
The wait staff were excellent, courteous, enthusiastic about the restaurant and the food, and make me look forward to my next trip through Reno.
