Arrived from Toronto -Sunwing Flight during the period July 25-Aug 01 with the family and could not be happier with the vacation. They have a warm hotel pool, tennis courts, table tennis, kids activities, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, baby sitting service, fitness club, sauna, body surf boards, free art classes (we did dancing & painting) etc. For extra costs, we had a day excursion to Paradise Island to snorkel in the ocean. Tourists were friendly and primarily European with some US. We met quite a few Canadians and they always seem the friendliest. The staff and particularly the nightly dancers worked very hard to satisfy the tourists. Food changed nightly some very good, while the others were fair. Beach was windy (great for para-sailing), but the water was very sandy and slightly rocky. I cut my bare foot on the first day jogging on the beach shoreline. Some concerns was the weather was humid and electricity had 2 hour rotating night-time shutdowns. A/C was only found in the rooms and a small area of the fitness club. WiFi was limited to the lobby area and can get hot with no A/C. Gifts and locals pushing heavily overpriced trinkets and souveniers. We did have a heavy downpour on our second last day, but the rain was still quite warm. This was described as a DR Winter Storm... Overall, this was not the best possible hotel, but it was still very good. The free WiFi allowed me to work and Skype clients, hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, restaurants and bar had early and late hours, large suites, food above average, lots of activities, nice pool, decent and clean beach, excellent for para-sailing, very beautifully designed gardens throughout the property and nightly entertainment. You also receive a free hotel shuttle from and to the airport. Not sure of all the negative reviews below, but our family was extremely impressed with the overall efforts by the hotel. The friendliness, safety and hard effort of the staff goes beyond having a nicer hotel. They treat you as family. Instead of spending for overpriced souveniers, we decided tips to Pedro, maids, bus drivers, bar and restaurants and most importantly the entertainers with the night-time shows and dance/paint classes. Our high rating and long review is well deserved. We will return and could not have been more pleased snapping lots of photos of our vacation. Thank you for creating these wonderful memories!
