Amazing thin crust pizza!! Such friendly service in a very casual atmosphere. Perfect for kids. Sports always on TV and a nice large bar. Really love it here.

Pizza was very good but I didn't think it quite lived up to the hype. Seemed a bit heavy on the oil. Friendly staff and place seems to get a good crowd. Wouldn't avoid the place but not sure I would go out of my way to go there again.

You MUST get the scampi wings!! You will want to drink the sauce or at least dunk your pizza into it. The wings themselves are crispy and delicious! Naturally, the pizza is a hit, too. Go EARLY... like 4:00pm or 4:30pm or else you will be waiting a while. first come first serve. ... service could use a little work but you can overlook it for the great food.

We sat at the bar, my date got his pizza and I patiently waited. 20 minutes go by with no check-in from the bartender. After finally flagging down the bartender (no easy task) I was told that she forgot to order my pizza. I went over the kitchen and asked to speak with the manger and was told there was NO MANAGER! I burst out laughing. What kind of restaurant has no manager on duty? Never heard that one before. They had the nerve to charge me for me meal. Pizza was decent, but the service was incredibly bad. Until this day, I had never stiffed a server on a tip. I honestly considered leaving without paying.

So as a pizza lover, I had to taste “One of the best pizzas in NJ”. The pizza is definitely distinct, like no other I have tasted. The crust is perfectly cooked, great tasting cheese and sauce. Any hungry guy can finish most of the pie on his own, so if it’s a family setting, better order 2 to 3 pies. Reasonably priced, lively restaurant/tavern, but in a seedy part of Orange, NJ, so extra precaution around the area. I wouldn’t list it in my top 10 pizzerias, but it’s definitely worth the taste.

It's been 15 years since I have been to this place and I remembered it as having the best thin crust pizza anywhere. We ordered a meatball and onion pizza and started with an order of Buffalo chicken tenders which were very good. I've heard rumors for years that the Landmark Tavern in Livingston somehow inherited an employee who stole the pizza recipe from Star Tavern. I've been a long time customer of Landmark and I can honestly say I couldn't tell the difference between the two pizza recipes, plus I preferred the Buffalo tenders at Landmark and they have the best burgers in Essex County as far as I'm concerned. There's no reason for me to drive 15 minutes out of my way to go to Star Tavern, however if you live in the neighborhood, you would be missing out on some great thin crust pizza and owe it a try. It's great.

The scampi wings are TO DIE FOR!!!! Prices are very affordable for what it's worth. They give you big portions. A personal pizza can literally serve like 4 people so definitely come hungry.

First time here on a recommendation. The pizza was good, although we waited over 30 minutes. They had forgotten about us. After I asked how much longer, the girl took our boxed pies off the top of the oven and apologized. I judge pizzas by the plain pie. The dough was very thin and crusty, the cheese all the way to the edge and crispy. There's only 1 size: medium. The lines for seating were long as this is a popular place but small. I will say their pizza I'd way better than the pizza restaurant on South Orange Avenue that got voted #1 in NJ. That place had the tasteless pizza in NJ. Star Tavern is a hidden gem in Orange, NJ.

Star Tavern is one of those place you see on a wide variety of TV shows. It is the quintessential New Jersey Tavern style pizza. This was my first trip here. It was insanely crowded, being a little before dinner hour we did get seated right away, but the line for tables grew immensely and by 5:30 was really long. We had a red spinach, a pesto, a pepperoni, and a three cheese (with added hot peppers and onions). The pesto was my favorite, the red spinach was my wife's favorite. The pepperoni was easily the most photogenic. The crust was crisp and held up to the toppings. Despite being so famous, the pub retains all of its authenticity. It is pretty amazing. If you're even remotely close, you should hit this place up. Sooooo good! Barbara was our server and she was incredible. If I lived nearby, I'd be here all the time!
