The food was very good. There was a good variety of food for the high cost chef selection. Waiter brought peppers with trout roe and one was very spicy. The waiter did not mention anything about spicy to us. The food was very good, not worth the 85.00 per person, and the waiter we had was not very good at telling us what was coming.
I was very impressed with the high-end Spanish tapas cuisine at this restaurant in the newly reopened Ocean Resort Casino. It’s not cheap, but the service is good and the selection of dishes are impressive.
In particular, I was a fan of the bacon wrapped figs and the free range chicken with a selection of dipping sauces.
The food, atmosphere and gambling were amazing! Sadly, we didn't get to go in the pool, but it looked stunning!
Update...
Came back a year later and used a coupon to get a free night stay and included the pool! Get your drinks for free in the casino, don't pay the crazy prices at the pool! It was a lovely stay with breath taking views! Highly recommended!
Very disappointed this trip. Have stayed many times before without complaints. Room very dated and dingy therefore appearing dirty. I have always enjoyed the buffet on previous visits. Sorry to say there was nothing nice to talk about. Food was horrible, roast beef was like leather couldn't get near steak station because of line for crab legs. Someone should have been on floor directing people. 45.00 per person would be fine if you were getting quality food. Not anymore.
Please get it together.
I had a premium, recently renovated room overlooking the bay. It was really nice and the view was great from the giant wall-sized window. The service was great and dinner at McCormick and Schmick's was fantastic. The casino floor was very clean and seemed to be recently renovated as well. The majority of the gaming machines are very modern and were fun to play. My friends and I had a blast.
This is so sad. I've never been to Atlantic City but I have been to South Lake Tahoe/Stateline & Reno recently and I fear they will end up the same way. South Lake Tahoe & Reno, like Atlantic City, were meccas for gamblers. When the Indians were given the go-ahead to open their casinos by the voters in California, Reno and Tahoe really felt the pain. The local economies of both cities were hit hard when Indian Casinos popped up near Sacramento. When the Indian Casinos don't pay taxes like traditional casinos do, they can really take advantage of the extra cash in their pockets to pay for great entertainment, great hotels, awesome slot machines, etc. Plus, Bay Area gamblers like the convenience of driving to a casino in an hour or less rather than the three hours it takes to get to Lake Tahoe or Reno. Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in the world with every outdoor activity available PLUS it has some great casinos. The powers that be there probably banked on the area's beauty to keep the crowds coming. Honestly, that makes sense. However, the casinos just don't get the crowds anymore. I'm not sure why people go to Reno in its current condition. I've heard the city is renovating and trying to get more business there. But, how can they get the crowds there for gambling anymore? I just don't know. The good news for South Lake Tahoe is that it's getting a new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino that should bring some life to the place, especially if they can start attracting more conventions. At least Tahoe can capitalize on its attractiveness as a tourist destination to keep some decent activity. Reno may be doomed. Has anyone else has seen something similar to this in their areas or noticed what I am seeing in Reno and Tahoe? If Atlantic City can fail, then I guess it's possible for the same thing to happen elsewhere. It's a reality check, that's for sure. And it's very sad on so many levels.
