Came for the Weiner dogs. Stayed for the horses. My grandfather, his brother and father were all trainers here. It's nice to come back to a place that had some significance to my past.
Also, wife won 60$ on her first horse!
Great way to spend a summer afternoon! Minimum bets are $2, so its easy to make it a cheap afternoon, also. Service in the grandstand boxes is ok, somtimes a little slow, but it's busy, and you can go buy your own drinks if you like, so its not really a complaint. If you don't know how to bet on horses, there are people who can help, and also tons of useful advice in the programs and inside.
I was sad when I saw the condition of the barns!!!
You would like to think that after all the money Hastings Downs has made over the years that they would refurbish the place!
I enjoyed the food and the gorgeous view of the mountains and the handsome horses but otherwise this Christian woman will not visiting often!
