Food is good depending on what you order. I'm not too sure of her name but the waitress with the blonde hair and blue eyes was really rude. She was acting as if we were inconvienancing her by eating here. We didnt come at a busy time, the restaurant was practically empty. She was also rude when we ordered our food. She was also complaining about having to separate the checks. I'm sorry I thought that was a part of the job as a waitress? After our meal she literally came to our table and made an announcement saying how it's too much trouble for her. If it was an issue it could've been mentioned before, not after. Everytime we came here she has been rude. Good way to act if you want to keep customers away.

I'm torn betten 3 and 4 stars. The food is ok. Prices aren't great. Decent beer selection. But I do have a ritual of eating there on Wednesday and watching the classic cars roll by. It's 3 star food in a 4 star decor with 5 star cars rolling by. Take from that what you want

Stopped in for a late lunch and tried their carnitas taco off the bar menu. It was quite good and only $3. Had it with a glass of tonic water. The service was great. My friend had the same but chose a beer off their Daily Special list with assistance in making a choice. Very comfortable atmosphere. Couldn't stay to enjoy them but the band members were starting to set up to start playing at 3:30. Friends have shared with me that they are quite good.

Open patio. Music was amazing as well as a service, our server was was slammed but did a excellent job food was good, on Sunday the May 7th. Looking forward to going again

The experience here has been poor!! We were seriously rooting for it since it has such a welcoming environment. Our waitress Brandi ignored us for the longest time. Even newer customers got attention from her until finally we had to flag her down. After that, getting our drink and food order took a long time. Even though we ordered chips and salsa, those never came. Our food finally is brought out and we couldn’t complain about taste. It was fairly good! If they could improve their service tremendously, this place would be amazing.

Place is great, have great music weekend eves, great food always have had good servers. Love the place!

Pretty good, moderately priced food and very good service in general. If you like beer, in addition to the standard fare of domestic and imports, they always have a great selection of craft beers that changes weekly. I’m a frequent patron of this place. I recommend it without reservation.

" Our Lunch was Awesome ! " Two friends and I went to the Downtown Cafe at 182 E. Main Street in El Cajon this week, and enjoyed a great Lunch experience. Tasha our server was very nice and did a good job taking care of our needs for lunch. Both of my friends had Taco plates. One had the Grilled Mahi Tacos with Grilled Mahi, Salsa Fresca, Cabbage, Avocado, Black Beans, and Chips. My other friend had the Carnita Tacos with Pork, Salsa Fresca, Lettuce, Black Beans, Cheese and Chips. Both Taco plates looked and tasted delicious ! For my lunch I had the Louisiana Wrap with Louisiana Chicken, Romaine, Tomato, Ranch Coleslaw, and Chips. The chicken was so tender and tasty. The Downtown Cafe has 34 beers on Tap, and has a huge Bar area with a wide range of Alcohol drinks to chose from. Everyone was telling us to come back for their happy hour, which is supposed to be very good. I will definitely go back to the Downtown Cafe Again !

We walked in and were told it would be 10 minutes for a seat. Meanwhile at least 16 other people came in and were seated. There were open tables and yet we stood waiting for a table. There were people coming up to the hostess complaining about not even seeing their waiter/waitresses. After 15 to 20 minutes of waiting and numerous other people with larger parties being seated we left. We will not be returning. This was my first and last experience with this restaurant.

I love this place, and because is a reason. Not an issue or an excuse. A cool place to eat. Just don't fret because one my one ear is deaftone or something.

Come at least once a week because the food is good and the menu has a big veriety. But the service is horrendous . they need to pull there head out of there butts. Its bad every single time. Every part of the service is bad. Needs real management.

Of the bar tenders, Paul is a nice guy. The rest treat you like you stole their first born unless you are here every night of the week. Expect to have to tell them what you want from across the bar. If you wait you will never get anything. Food is good "bar food", and worth it on happy hour. Other than that it's a no go. See those taco salad shells in the kitchen up top? They've been there countless days. I made the mistake of having one once and can't even describe how stale it was. You would think with the women bartenders drinking behind the bar they would be nicer!
