My wife & I had planned to go up to Yosemite for our wedding anniversary, but with the massive fire there, we cancelled at the last minute, and thought, "We should do something special, shouldn't we?" so we headed-up to Pala and spent the night. It was a surprisingly wonderful experience. The facilities & staff were all top-notch, and everyone went out of their way to ensure a memorable day. Oh, and hands-down, the best, most comprehensive buffet in the San Diego area! -The only negative is that they have no WiFi! (I'm not kidding). When we checked-in, we asked how to use the WiFi, and were informed, "We don't have it!" - *Edit* - We came back, and they actually do have WiFi in the rooms now!! Maybe they did the last time, and the folks at the desk just didn't know it? It's a bit odd in that you're sent to a guest WiFi page on their Intranet first, which lets you choose between the paid WiFi, and the free WiFi (with no explanation of the difference). I chose the free option, and it's fine - I have no idea why the paid option is there. Anyway, it was a relief to see that working... Kudos to Pala!!!
