The overall quality of the food at the buffet was outstanding. Amazing prime rib. The lemon meringue pie was as good as the ones my mom used to make. Spirit Mountain has a bigger selection but i think Chinook has better food (reminds me of the old Spirit Mountain buffet before they redid it). We struggled at the slots to find a machine that we could play for a while without running out of money but eventually we found one and were able to play for a few hours. Subjectively it seems like maybe the payouts are better at Spirit Mountain. The non-smoking part of the casino was on the warm side so we played in the main smoking area. Servers came around to take drink orders at the slots which was handy. If i only wanted to play slots maybe Spirit Mountain would be better but otherwise it's hard to beat Chinook Winds (can't sit on the beach at Spirit Mountain). We're already planning a return visit. It's great to have two excellent casinos near Salem.
