American Restaurant

Not the biggest selection of food. I ordered the chicken bologna and it was very good. I like that they have a little salad bar and the service was very attentive.

Fallon Nevada doesn't have many options when it comes to quality food. There are a few places that stand out but they don't believe people eat on Sundays. So, you are forced to choose from several establishments that acknowledge the need to eat on Sunday. Tonight, Sunday, March 18th, 2018, I was in the mood for something hot and decided that we'd give Sandwinds a try. The other options in town had let us down so we were open to something new. Upon walking in the sign read "Prime Rib sandwich special" Now I realize that the word "special" typically means "We either sell it or throw it away" however, that isn't always a bad thing as somethings aren't half bad the day after. Prime Rib if left soaking in Au Jus overnight and then chopped or thinly sliced and paired with cheese, peppers, and onions can make an amazing sandwich. One that I've had on several occasions using leftovers. What I received was so far from edible if Gordon Ramsey had been served this he'd of not threw the sandwich, but the whole table through the window. I was shocked when what was placed in front of me was nothing more than a thick cut slice of prime rib between a plain bun. The bun wasn't toasted, roasted or warmed. Had no butter, garlic, or oil. No cheese, no anything. It was literally just a slab of lukewarm meat and a plain bun. "and they have the balls to charge 11.95 for this?" I say to my Girlfriend. I cut the sandwich in half and take a bite and am immediately assaulted by a very off taste. The bun tasted artificial with strong chemical overtones. Sadly, I know what artificial bread tastes like, you know the decorative ones you find in permanent displays. Hey, we were all kids at one point. This bun tasted similar to that fake one, albeit a bit softer. The prime rib lacked flavor and was chewy and very fatty. This is why it needed to be thinly sliced. The AuJu was bitter and oily. I immediately pushed it aside, called for the server and without saying a word other than "excuse me" He turned and immediately said, "you'd like something else?". It was as if he knew it was sub-par when he served it to me. I'd be willing to bet he'd of been more shocked if I had eaten it. My Girlfriend had the vegetable and steak soup which was more than likely made from the same leftover prime rib that my sandwich spawned from. However, it was much better in the soup. I ordered a cup and we both enjoyed it. Perhaps it was my fault for ordering a special after knowing specials are rarely anything but desperate attempts to avoid loss. Perhaps it was a rare occurrence where quality slipped through the fingers of an otherwise good restaurant. Either way, I left with a less than satisfied stomach and even less faith in local restaurants. Don,t even get me started on La Fiesta!

We went for the pasta & seafood dishes listed on their Web dinner menu only to find they did not exist. Had to settle for sandwiches. Obvious false advertising.
