A solid meal choice in Deadwood. Chicken was great. It is cool to visit as it was the location of the original Gem Saloon. I just wish it was a more old fashioned atmosphere, but it is definitely a nice dining room.
The service was welcoming, and the food very good. I had Buffalo Bills open face sandwich for lunch. Sliced buffalo on mashed potatoes with gravy on Texas toast. The portion was large, so I got a to go box to eat the rest for dinner. The price was very reasonable for a dine in restaurant
The waitress is very nice and helpful. She had the entire restaurant to take care of and still gave excellent service.
I recommend the Gem. Next time I stop in Deadwood, I will go to the Gem to eat.
It is rather cool to get to eat at the original location of the original Gem.
When we walked in, we were immediately treated kindly, and the employees were helpful. The steak I got was perfect, and the fries also, were amazing! Only downside was that while in the establishment a disruption with the Gentex Commander Code 3s (Fire Alarms) occurred.
It took nearly an hour for our food! No discount offered either for the long wait. Food was good, but they were out of every sirloin and they have several sizes on the menu, in addition to ribs and swordfish. After we ordered they ran out of ribeye and baked potatoes! A steak house should not run out of steak!
This was a nice place to stop for lunch while traveling thru- the food and the service was spot on! 👍 you may have to wait a few minutes for a table- but it’s worth it! Thank you for keeping the Gem alive!we hope to come back soon and spend more time😎👍👍
