The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. After reading some of the reviews on here I was expecting extremely small serving sizes, but was pleasantly surprised. They're the size of what people SHOULD be eating. If you want a value meal, a lot of food, for a little money, go to McDonald's. The food was absolutely delicious and the German Chocolate Cake was to die for. We went here for my birthday dinner, which also turned out to be when my boyfriend proposed. He had contacted the restaurant ahead of time to plan the proposal and they were super helpful to him as well as he told me later! If you are looking for a warm, welcoming, and romantic environment with delicious food I definitely recommend you go here, with or without an engagement :) If you are going as only a group of two, I do recommend asking to be seated on the second floor because it's a bit quieter!

One if by land, two if by sea... and that's it, doesn't´ deserve more than 2 stars... Very bad experience at this restaurant. My father was in the city, so we decided to go a good restaurant to have a nice experience and enjoy hopefully a wonderful time. First we where impressed by the live music on the bar, but that was it. We had to wait a lot for the food, we wanted some beer from the beer menu and the answer was "we only have lagunitas, The idea that we had of the food seen in the menu was completely different than what we had, and to be honest, not really good. Even though there´s good ambience in the restaurant I will not come back.

There's plenty that can be said for the romantic and intimate environment here. On most nights, a live pianist can be heard performing for guests; pair that with dim lighting, candle-lit tables, and countless tales of proposals and anniversary dinners here is a perfect set-up to woo that special someone. Service can be a little helter-skelter during busy times, but the food is mostly solid across the board. The beef wellington is one of the signature dishes here, but comes with a hefty price. Come here for a special occasion, but not if the focus of your meal is on the food.

My husband and I recently had our wedding ceremony and reception brunch for 100 guests at One if by Land. We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Rosanne Martino, general manager, is an absolute superwoman and helped make the day run as smoothly as possible. It goes without saying that the food was to die for and our guests are still complementing it. We also asked the restaurant to make our cake for us and it was divine (chocolate cake with raspberry mousse--yum!). The jazz musicians were lovely, the staff was exceptionally helpful, and the ambiance cannot be found anywhere else. We are so happy that we chose to have our wedding here and we would highly recommend it for those who want a romantic, intimate wedding.

Soggy tuna on a bed of chorizo/bacon with raw chanterelle? Advice: if you run out of key ingredients, don't throw random remains together. An insult to my palate. Chef must have been on a vacation, as he didn't show up when I requested him for constructive feedback.

I went there this past weekend with my husband for our one year anniversary dinner, prior to a Broadway show. We are foodies and go to a different restaurant each weekend for date night. I had such high expectations and found this restaurant to be just average. I've had better experiences and food elsewhere. 1) Waited 15 minutes for menus. It was 5:45PM and the restaurant only had a few patrons (so I don't understand the wait). 2) The service was just ok. Asked for a couple of extra items which didn't show up (butter, napkin). 3) The atmosphere was romantic and charming. The jazz musician was good and not too loud. This was my favorite part of the experience. 4) The food was good but not above average or outstanding. I had the scallops for starters and the lobster for the main course. Again the food was good but I've had much better in this price range. For example, we went to the Four Seasons Restaurant and everything was top notch. I wished I would've picked another restaurant for such a momentous occasion. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant nor recommend it to friends.
