We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in two separate visits. The rooms were consistently roomy and clean. It compares to Marriott properties in Canada (e.g. Niagara Falls) for size and amenities. In room furniture have a tastefully old feel to them that matches the overall charm of the hotel. Bathrooms can use a little renovation but were reasonably clean. Hotel itself has a beautiful garden and architectural decorations that gives it a very historic vibe. The breakfast was the best breakfast buffet I've had in any hotel yet. Tasty, fresh, with a very large variety of local cuisine options. At night time, the garden area become alive and a romantic dinner can be had outdoors under the trees with live music in the background and other couples and families sitting around eating or enjoying hookas.

Awesome place to stay. The room is spacious, comfortable and super clean. The linens are of the best quality. The food is great, but I must warn you that the portion size is enormous.

Awesome hotel!!! This place was built in 1869 by the viceroy of Egypt as a palace for visiting rulers to stay at during the inauguration of the Suez Canal. The hotel’s history as a palace is evident in its architecture, layout, and facilities. Everywhere that we turned was something new and sprawling. The ballrooms put anything in Gone With the Wind to shame. The hotel is home to a multitude of restaurants, catering to many tastes. There is the Egyptian restaurant, but otherwise the restaurants offer a variety of comfort food like we find in America...perhaps with a twist. The steak house offers Egyptian beef, the burger place offer stone cooked burgers. Warning, it seems that smoking is allowed in all of the restaurants. The steakhouse did offer us a non-smoking section. Our rooms were excellent. We stayed in two, both with balconies that offered excellent views of Cairo. Excellent amenities. I believe that all the rooms are smoking, but I did not notice an odor. Egypt has experienced a number of terrorist attacks, including attacks on hotels, in recent years. They have responded with markedly increased security. The security is very visible when you enter the hotel: vehicle barriers, armed guards (even soldiers at times), guard dogs. At the entrance is airport style metal detectors and x-ray machines. The increased security seems everywhere in Egypt, and one cannot blame them. Once inside the hotel I did not see any further overt security: we did not see soldiers with AK-47’s patrolling by the pool or such. On inside it is like a different world. And it is nice to know that the security is there to keep it that way

One of the most beautiful hotels in the world. We booked an airport pickup and this was hassle free - a rarity in Egypt! I highly recommend booking an executive suite. It costs a little extra, but you will be rewarded with access to an exclusive lounge area with complimentary food / snacks and drinks all day, and a view over the city of Cairo. We ate there for breakfast every day and it was excellent. Tours can be booked from the front desk. Don't be afraid to explore some of the ball rooms, etc., as they are exquisite due to the hotel's history as a palace.

Excellent hotel, very clean, very friendly staff, very comfortable rooms. I stayed here for 3 week's when I was working in Cairo and found the hotel to be very comfortable and and a great place to work and stay. My room was very nice with a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the housekeeping staff was excellent. The front desk staff was very accommodating along with the concierge staff. The hotel has several restaurants that are very nice and a wonderful outdoor restaurant/ lounge where you can spend the evening with friends and a huka pipe. The hotel is very beautiful with alabaster floors in the lobby and I always felt very safe here.

We are currently staying at this hotel. The decor is very beautiful and the room is clean and comfortable. However, the staff at the garden area is extremely slow and almost non existent. Getting the menu , having them take our order ,getting the food takes forever. The only thing you get before even getting your entree is the bill 🤣 this has happened 3 times now. It would be a great hotel to stay if the service was better. Other than that great view of the Nile from our balcony.
